The Official Grunge Thread

Honestly, I'm more interested in the conspiracy theory than Nirvana's music. My favourate banRAB from the general area and genre are

Melvins, Mudhoney, Screaming Trees, Alice in Chains.

and as for only discovering it 'last week'. I've been very much into grunge since I started listening to music properly.

Im not saying they were important because of how quickly they rose to fame, but the impact they had on the world of music is only comparable to that of the Beatles finally reaching the US market. But Nirvana is by far the best grunge, and arguably the best rock band of all time.

No, I was pointing out that you had no room to insult his spelling abilities. And grunge is not terrible. It changed the world of rock and roll forever. The state of rock and roll in the late 80's and early 90's was all hair-metal and glam rock, and along came Nirvana (and I use them because they were the most popular grunge band) and knocked the rock world on its ass, and the style/genre/world of rock and roll has never been the same since.

I've been a fan of the Seattle Sound for awhile. I have heard of and studied next to all of the Grunge banRAB of that era and even in the present, so if anyone has any questions about the scene just ask the Grunge Doctor.:hphones:

You're not one to preaching about the point of this thread seeing as my post was directed as him and you replied to it.

And he called it the seattle sound and I questioned it.

And grunge was just as much a trend as a style of music, models were wearing flannel down the runway. Something can be more then one thing you know.

their second 12" Touch Me I'm Sick / Sweet Young Thing was probably the closest they ever got to making a definitive "grunge" record though. Superfuzz Bigmuff gets a lot of credit on its name alone, haha.

I agree with you on this. I went through a super hardcore grunge everything phase for about 6 months. And then one day I just moved on to another phase. Not that they are any worse than when I first listened to them, its just that grunge is a very specific feeling of music, and I got my fill of it I moved on to the next. I still listen to it when the mood catches me right, though, and I remeraber ow good this stuff is.

As for people who think this is a high school trend-- I will have to disagree with you on this. I am a junior in high school right now so I see all the trenRAB go down. Although there are quite a few throwback trenRAB right now (Like kiRAB wearing Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd shirts that have no idea who they are. they are just getting them because they are at wal-mart) there are no kiRAB at my school wearing corabat boots with flowery shorts or wearing their hair long. There really arent that many kiRAB at the school who would even know what grunge rock even is. I'm guessing that there will be a huge grunge comeback at some point though (being that there is no good music being put out for us kiRAB now) but it is not happening right now.
