The Official Green Day Thread

After that line I stopped reading your post. That is the stupidest thing anyone can say. Just because a band makes music that a LOT of people like does NOT mean they can't be considered a certian genre any more. It's about the music, not who likes the music. Also, The Ramones were mainstream, if you didn't already know that.

Personally I think that their new stuff is good. They grew up. I've loved them since I was seven (Nimrod) and I think that their music represents them not what everyone else wants it to be. It pisses me off that they've become mainstream but that isn't their fault. They never asked the world to love them.

Uh, deep? No I don't think I'd say deep. I agree with you there. But as far as personal goes, you can tell some songs they are writing because they've felt, and some songs they are writing because it sounRAB pleasent and they needed lyrics.

Amen to the last part. I'd love a lot of 90's banRAB a whole lot more if these idiot DJ's with a death grip on their grunge collections were at the controls. We used to have a segment up here called the "grunge plunge" (since I stopped driving I don't know if its still around) and the best part about it was they would play the grunge you never heard on the radio.

As a really brief aside, i'd be fine with never hearing Nirvana on the radio ever again.

you've been here what, a week? how about you take our word for it when we say that booboo has quite an extensive and varied taste in music, seeing as how a lot of us (ie. crowquil and I) have been here for about 2 years now.

why would a serious musician have respect for greenday? nothing they do is exceptional, nor technically difficult. could you elaborate on exactly what they have done for music? as i, and im sure many others, are not following you when you say that.

I really don't understand everyone's hatred for this band, other than they had the good fortune to catch lightening in a bottle TWICE. When first signed to thier major label to record Dookie, their only request was to record it somewhere close enough that they could ride their bikes there. When they made their money all three of them moved within blocks of their original residences, all of them are mere blocks from Gilman St. These guys haven't forgotten where they are from. They may not be the best out there, but every release is solid.

I'm aware of the ease, it was nothing to do with Greenday (it could have been any ****ty band), I was motivated by the poster.

And it wasn't you point?? Then what exactly did you mean by this:
