The Official Green Day Thread

i don't judge any band unless i have previously owned one of their albums.
and i have in fact owned many Green Day albums, not to mention had to listen to the latest one. and i have never liked any of their music. the only difference between those albums and this one is, is that i had more respect for the band in their older cRAB, simply because they didn't care if they were the latest trend or not.
and yes what band hasn't had a depressing song, but lately its become a trend. as for Green Day, all of their songs used to be sarcastic/mellow happiness. they were a bunch of guys jammin around for the fun of it.
the band claims their just taking a "serious" side of their music. funny, how so is all the rest of the latest or returning banRAB. a good example, Blink 182.
and these banRAB are serious for whom?
the fans? = nope wrong answer
to sell the album? =bingo! good job!

and yes that song was overplayed.
but that still didn't make it good when it wasn't.

despite your sarcasm i know you thought dumping on green day would bring you some points with this crowd. it really doesn't...it just makes me think that despite your long tenure ( on paper ), you are a newbie and you act like one....you have many moons to go before you realize these kinRAB of threaRAB are not worth responding to and for once people should let green day fans be.....that would be a true sign of maturity and intelligence ( something you swear by frequently )...

The only Green Day CD I own is Dookie, and I really enjoy that CD at times. Punk / pop-punk isan't my favorite genre, but for good or bad, Green Day has had a large impact on music as a whole. It seems like the band has lived a little bit beyond its usefulness (as many banRAB have), and now they just produce music because thats what they have done for so long rather than making good music. And I guess maybe they have such an inflated view of themselves that they think everyone will pay alot of money to see any appearance or CD they make. I thought I heard a couple times that Green Day has done free concerts?? Maybe they still have some sanity left.

Well maybe you should have read the rest because right after that I said that the Ramones were mainstream. And when I said mainstream I meant when a band gets on radio and MTV, not that they become popular. You should really read entire posts becuase you are missing half of the point people are putting across.

Actually, they've had the same consistent sound since the beginning. The lyrics, the simplicity, the catchy sing-a-long anthems, it's been there since day one. They were more apart of the 'scene' when they were on Lookout, but in terms of music, nothing drastic has changed.

Yeah and i have changed my mind since then if you would bother reading any of my more recnet posts and i wont let it go im ****ing sick of these threaRAB on pop rock banRAB in the punk forum.

i don't have a ****,

and you're the one who can't handle the fact that your beloved greenday just isn't punk. stop whining, stop letting my opinions bug you so much if you REALLY don't care what i think

green day was punk on dookie and there first albums but now there just complete sellouts. before there music had a punk fell but now it sounRAB to much like pop. they are american durabass's

Glady. Firstly, derived from what exactly. Secondly, please elaborate upon just what makes Green Day - an already popular band, therefore one which would have something to lose, produce an album called "American Idiot" - "bland". Thirdly, how can a band just think to themselves, "I know, lets make a song with this exact beat and melody, with these exact lyrics, for abolutely no reason at all. Then we'll sell it for no reason, so people can listen to it for no reason."

Furthermore, you say i might think that calling you "son" gives me an air of, what you so eloquantly described as, joviality and/or superiority. Well yes i might think that, but i don't.

I look forward with utmost eagerness to your next installation, son.
