The Official Green Day Thread

I think you need to stop confusing popularity, sold out concerts and record sales with influence.

I'd say there were plenty more infleucnial.

Black Sabbath is the best example, every metal band of every sub genre owes it to them in some way, then you forget about King Crimson and how many prog banRAB they paved the way for, or The Stooges and how they were a big influence on punk rock...I'd also say John Lennon, Bob Marley, The Who, Stevie Wonder, Parliament/Funkadelic, Pink Floyd, Frank Zappa, David Bowie, New York Dolls, Yes, The Ramones, Deep Purple, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Queen, The Doors, Can, Velvet Underground, The Sex Pistols and countless others are more influencial.

And i absolutely agree, however... what i was saying was that this guy dug at the band and that was it. It was the post equivalent to throwing salt into someones eye's, then running away. Listen, i love a good argument mate, why u think i joined this forummy type thing. What do u think i was trying to provoke in response, a dance?

argh, genre is such a ****ty and disgusting word, abolish it from all dictionaries. may i just add that i cant see how people can label green day as punk- i have no idea where they get that concept from.

how predictable of you. ive heard the same thing a countless nuraber of times now. firstly, why is this thread being rekindled and secondly, please say something more interesting and/or constructive then "green day are sellouts"

^Ha man thats cool.. I bet you spent ages typing all that out aswel. But really : "but i have to admitt that sum of them are rubbish and original." I cant even take that seriously.

Green Day have started out as punk and just because they are successful now doesn't make them any less punk. I'm into all the great punk banRAB like the clash and social D and i really wish people would stop trying to label them.

I thought i would put it in the punk forum because i would class them as punk even though lately they've have appealed to pop people. I have always classed them alongside people like the clash and don't see why i should do different now.

This genre thing is a bunch of **** and if anyone wanted to comment on what i wrote about they should've and not tried to take the piss out of my thread being in the punk section. I'm beginning to question wether you lot come on here to slag or actually to talk about music.
