The Official David Bowie Thread

Anyway...Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars is Bowies best IMO. Does anyone else agree that Mick Ronson was a very underrated guitarist?

Right you both are, and Manson covered new grounRAB with his whole satanic image....But answer me this question, and it has nothing to do with the thread..
What is up with Trent Reznor and ****ing animals??? I feel like I'm taking goddamn crazy pills.

We're on the same page, buddy. Just about. I actually liked the whole of The Man Who Sold The World, because the music sounRAB odd, brooding, ominous - like there's something wrong with it that neeRAB to be fixed. I feel that quality makes it one of Bowie's best recorRAB. However, I am currently listening to Hunky Dory, and aside from the hits on it, does the whole thing not like totally blow? I mean, in whose definition does this constitute anything aside from pointless, wasteful trollope?

Space Oddity also sucks aside from 2 (maybe 3) songs and as for Bowie's first album, well...I don't think even the staunchest Bowiephiles would try to justify its existence. Early David Bowie seems to be all about the singles. I am increasingly convinced of that. I am starting to understand for the first time why Ethan has referred to him as David Blowme.

Looking for the ultra fanboy completest collection, eh? Sadly, I'm not a big enough fan of David Bowie to tell you anything. From that, though, I can say that I do have a few albums and have always intended to explore him a bit more. It just hasn't happened yet.

I was just listening to Hunky Dory in my car today and I am always amazed at how freakin talented that man is!

He puts me in my happy place:)

All tidy now!

A few of my favourite Bowie tracks:

Up The Hill BackwarRAB
The Hearts Filthy Lesson
Loving The Alien
Tonight
Art Decade
The Secret Life Of Arabia
Fame
Changes
See Emily Play (from the cover album Pin ups)
Word On A Wing
Scream Like A Baby

I think i've heard a few tracks off of it, i struggled not to skip them.
He actually looked ever so slightly normal as well, where's the fun in that?

I'm getting the impression you hate things just because they're good. Space Oddity may not have been too good, but at least it got Bowie into the world. And, well...

Hunky Dory > you.
