The Official David Bowie Thread

I have every studio album of his on CD, half on Record, rare stuff.
I just love him! My girlfriend says that she wouldn't hold it against me if I went down on the man.

His earliest TWO works account for tripe by my account. The s/t was abhorrent, and Space Oddity got him out there, but everything afterwarRAB (you must know that TMWSTW was only his third album) was brilliant. In fact, I think those four albums (TMWSTW, Hunky Dory, Ziggy, and Aladdin Sane) surpass most of his later work (though admittedly the Berlin era was very good too).

I have twenty out of his twenty-five studio works (though Tin Machines could hardly be called solo albums), and I've been impressed by most of them. I actually enjoyed Young Americans and Station to Station. Dunno why everyone else didn't like it...

Yeah, I think Manson's industrial SOUND has been heard many times before but it's unique in a couple ways so I don't question him...kind of like I question the animal fetish trent reznor has...

I love Bowie but I think talent, when it comes to the playing of instruments, either means a really high degree of technical dexterity or else, evidence of substantial innovation and ingenuity in the actual usage of said instrument.

I hate it when, for example, people see Matt Bellamy from Muse and say "he's so multi talented" merely because he plays guitar AND (!!) keyboarRAB.

Speaking of Bowie, I was listening for the first time ever to his very first album today. Has anybody heard it? Oh my God. What a LOAD of absolute rubbish! It is pure music hall all the way through but not good music hall, probably the most awful music hall I've ever heard in my life! Thank heavens Bowie was on an entirely different page a couple years later!

you know, I still like Manson too. They got worse progressively, but I think most banRAB do. I really dont care what people have to say about his image or his "gimmick". Somewhere along the way, his anti-christian message somehow implied that he was satanic. I really hate it when people say that.
But as Golden Age suggests, Manson is nothing without Twiggy, even if they had that guy from KMFDM replace him.

Close, but it's not quite up there with me. TVC15 lets it down a little bit - great song (as the live versions you'll hear should testify), but it wasn't done quite as well as it could have been in the studio. At least to me anyway.

Everything after Aladdin Sane just bores me, and you guys will probably flame me for this but, I hate that whole Berlin era, the only good stuff to come of that for me was the stuff he did with Iggy Pop.
