Not really, im not bashing his music, though i personaly don't like his music at all, but his music is merely an imitation of bowie, cooper and all the shock rock artists of the 70s and 80s. And his whole gothic image(the black and white makeup, the sexual androgyny, etc)seems like it was ripped off from Peter Gabriel in his years with genesis in the early 70s.
 
You ALWAYS misunderstand me. I sometimes wonder if it's intentional.

I was strictly talking about talent from the standpoint of playing instruments and nothing else. I certainly appreciate the point that Dream Theater are insanely good musicians, though I also hate the music. I also recognize that say, Danny Carey from Tool is an extremely innovative and talented drummer, though I don't really like the music.

I also didn't say Bellamy was not talented. Maybe he is. What I meant was that it is irritating to hear fans say that people like Bellamy are talented merely because they play three or so instruments, without any consideration for evaluating their degree of dexterity on each of the instruments. In other worRAB, I don't think being able to simply play a nuraber of instruments competently makes you "multi-talented", but rather the ability to play a nuraber of instruments really bloody well.

And that is all.


Then that'd make Bowie a talented songwriter, not a multi-talented instrumentalist
 
Unless your standarRAB of "really bloody well" are insanely high, he does. He's a really damn good guitarist and a good keyboardist. The guitar, keyboarRAB and vocals are all a very important part of the banRAB sound. Add to that he's surprisingly really damn good live. He deserves some props.
 
David Bowie, so great. Just because his music is different, and makes me smile. He's great live aswell if you like him pick up the DVD 'Bowie: A reality tour'.
I like 'Life on Mars?' and 'Im afraid of americans.' Usually, I just listen to him because I like the idea of not knowing what the hell he's on about sometimes.
 
Low is one of my favourite albums ever. I quite like the second half... I find it invokes a lot of imagery, which it should given Bowie's intentions with those tracks.

My favs are Always Crashing in the Same Car from the first half and Warszawa from the second.


Same - and A New Career in a New Town sounRAB like a bit of a transition between the two.
 
Ok, so I am interested in purchasing physical copies of Bowie's special edition releases of Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane, and Diamond Dogs. I'm curious to know if anyone else on the forum has purchased these because I want to be sure that buying these is a good choice since they're fairly expensive.

First, I woul like to know whether or not these discs are copy protected? I've read several reviews of these products and I hear different answers. Some say it is protected, others say its only the Canadian release that is protected, or that their computer was able to read the disc regardless of any copy control on the discs.

Second, I would like to know if the liner notes/booklet for these discs are as nice as I have read they are? The liner notes are mostly what I want the physical copy for. I will probably buy all three discs used, which is still about $30.00-$35.00, instead of $65.00-$70.00 new. Anyway, thank you in advance for any answers you can give me.
 
Well that is very much true.

But I personally think twee pop is one of the biggest tragedies in music history.

Basically a bunch of brits who got sick of us Americans and our "fun music" so they tried to show us by making the dullest music possible.
 
I've been listening to his early albums lately and I have to say that everything up to Ziggy stardust bored me (apart from the song The man who sold the world). I'll continue to explore his discography but I'm not very hopeful. :\
 
I liked Nirvana's cover of "The Man Who Sold The World".
Bowie did it better though...
Did Bowie ever do anything with Placebo because I heard he did after they played at his b-day party...Idk.
