The Official David Bowie Thread

Amazing film - David Bowie actually does a job with his role :D So, basically I don't really think he's that great an actor; kinda wooden. Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence, the Man Who Fell To Earth and Jazzin' For Blue Jean are exceptions where he's actually pretty good though. I didn't think much of his role in Labyrinth, but then again I'm not so much a fan of the movie as a whole either.

Most of the songs from both of them are on youtube in some form or other.

Here's one of the Outside outtakes;

Apparently Outside itself was at first meant to be a triple album, but was whittled down to a single disc at Bowie's label's behest. Of the three hours'-worth of unreleased material from the Outside sessions, only half an hour (the bootleg) has leaked onto the circuit - intriguing eh.

Here's one from Toy as well;

But I think that proves my point though. I'm not saying you don't like it , all i'm suggesting is that you don't really listen to a great deal of it as none of those banRAB were influenced by Low at all.
Had you said Icicle Works , Human League , Teardrop Explodes , Depeche Mode , Adam & the Ants or any of the many others that were influenced by Low then maybe we can talk.

I'm presuming this is taken from an origianl pic. Does anyone think he didn't know if you took the mirror away his arm is doing a nazi salutte. I wonder if this was before the notorious but denied incedent at London Victoria trains stn.

So you wouldn't call him a talented musician? I know he wouldn't be in a top 10 list or whatever but i think he deserves some credit for the amount of instruments he can play well, let alone the songwriter that he is.

Well yah, but I think those three are among the best pop has to offer. I've heard that Rick Wakemen played piano on parts of Hunky Dory, most notably on Life On Mars. Mmm...

I prefer his Berlin years to his rock years a lot more. 'Station to Station' just pips 'Low' for me. I have a soft spot for 'Tonight' too. 'Loving The Alien', 'Don't Look Down' and 'Neighbourhood Threat' are great tracks. 'Outside' is a great album too.
