The New York Ripper

Hallmark, Diva TV, The Disney Channel and Nickelodeon all show it on a regular basis.
I love the Disney Channels whacky onscreen captions during the nipple slicing scene.

Never seen New York Ripper on any British TV channels.

Zone Horror has shown movies such as I Spit on Your Grave,Jungle Holocaust,Zombie Flesh Eaters etc.

Film 4 has shown some of Argento's movies.

Driller Killer and a few other former video nasties have appeared on various channels over the years.

I know FX have shown Death Wish 2 fully uncut a few times. Odd since its not even fully uncut in America or the UK or even most of Europe for that matter lol.

The New York Ripper is still cut by 30 seconRAB in the UK but I doubt anyone but Film 4 would show it.

Screenings of I Spit On Your Grave etc will be the same butchered versions as the UK get on dvd.

None of Argentos movies are censored anymore but Film 4 still manage to show Italian language versions of his films instead of the English versions. ON set dialogue is spoken in a mix of foreign and English so selecting the Italian dub is odd.

Death Wish 2 was fully uncut everywhere in Europe except the UK.( and very unlikely to be uncut on British tv - it wasn't when it was on Bravo)
However - despite a fully uncut dvd being released there a few years back it is now available in a complete series boxset laughably sold on Amazon and Ebay as "uncut" and the Death Wish 2 included in the set has more cuts than either the UK or US version.

Best place to get DW2 uncut is Australia.
Even the later films are now hard to come by in their original MGM Europe versions.

The rape of the maid lasts about one minute in the UK version but the uncut rape lasts 7 minutes.
Notably cut is the later rape of Kerseys daughter which is completely removed.
Despite getting them cleared by the BBFC long ago MGM decided not to release Death Wish 3 , 4 or 5 in the UK

Apart from the first of the series it's best to ignore UK and US discs of the films and go for Oz (DW2) and Europe (3,4 and 5)

Still no uncut UK of that either

No nuns get raped in the Death Wish 2 that I have from Australia

For " a huge fan of the film" you don't know it very well.

Are you confusing it with Bad Lieutenant? IIRC that has a nun being raped although I don't recall that being one of the cuts made to the film

The AV Forums thread makes no mention of it being shown uncut.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that FX showed it uncut . I said it was unlikely - not impossible.

And the RAB thread offers no evidence other than supposition.

However - any dvd will be shorn of several minutes although the amount of cuts has been reduced several times

Any channel shsowing it uncut would be on thin ice

I remember it being flagged up and discussed at the time on Worldwidedvdforums (which I think is no more). A quick look at Melonfarmers also indicates the uncut version was shown on an Irish TV channel not so long ago, so the print certainly seems to be out there.

Whilst the rules are the rules, by whatever technical/legal means they are periodically, happily circumvented by TV stations and have been several times throughout the years. Way back at the start of the 90s ITV showed the uncut version of Visiting Hours, which was 'banned' on video at that point. Even many of the Hammer films regularly trotted out on TV during and before that era contained scenes that had originally been cut for the cinema and at that time prevailed on video. It certainly seems though like much more has gone under the radar since the advent of multi-channel TV, which in a way is probably inevitable.

The print will be out there because nobody in Europe except the UK censors it anyway.
Bravo's was edited .

When the few Hammer films were shown uncut for the first time they were already between 30 and 40 years old.

The shorter versions on video were merely a symptom of being released through Warner who regularly supplied the heavily cut US versions of the movies which were often different to the UK cinema version.

Taste The Blood of Dracula for example took a while to be released uncut here on video because Warner supplied the US version shorn of 4 minutes of nudity.

The BBC aired the UK cinema version which was never cut several times and long before we had a commercial release in the UK.

However - I do accept that when the BBFC cuts films for a lower certificate the uncut version often gets shown on tv - there's no law against that.

But sexual violence is still a problem for the BBFC and Death Wish 2 would still be censored today (and is) so any channel knowingly airing it would be heading for trouble with the law which states nothing beyond "current" 18 certificate is permitted.

The Hammer films are quite obviously no problem and when some films are questionable like Re- Animator a broadcaster can consult the BBFC on whether cuts made in the 80's are still required and they can go ahead and show a film uncut that is still cut on home video

Actually your right enough i did get it confused with Bad Lietenant which i watched a few nights ago.......its a maid in Death Wish 2 isnt it? But yes it was uncut and they 'take turns' with her. Also you see the daughter implaed on the fence after she jumps.

Although its a different and AMAZING movie.......Bad Lietenant due to some music copyrights has never been released on VHS or DVD uncut. Even the new special edition in America is still the same old release. So until they sort that out the theatrical release will be quite unique and something not many will have seen.

Death Wish 2:

The daugher impaled on the fence is cut on the US version not the UK one and never has been
The US version shows only a long shot and not the closeup we get.

The maid rape is 7 minutes long uncut and apart from showing that each of the villains takes it in turns like the UK version - in the uncut one we actually get to see each of them rape her while the frienRAB assist.
