I remember it being flagged up and discussed at the time on Worldwidedvdforums (which I think is no more). A quick look at Melonfarmers also indicates the uncut version was shown on an Irish TV channel not so long ago, so the print certainly seems to be out there.
Whilst the rules are the rules, by whatever technical/legal means they are periodically, happily circumvented by TV stations and have been several times throughout the years. Way back at the start of the 90s ITV showed the uncut version of Visiting Hours, which was 'banned' on video at that point. Even many of the Hammer films regularly trotted out on TV during and before that era contained scenes that had originally been cut for the cinema and at that time prevailed on video. It certainly seems though like much more has gone under the radar since the advent of multi-channel TV, which in a way is probably inevitable.
