The Most Overrated Movies ever

Anything starring Rene Zellwegger, as soon as she opens her mounth to speak I need the remote control.

Also Colder - I think that movie was just such crud. It was probably good as a play but as a film, it didnt work at all. and the acting - purlease - Natalie Portman up for best actress???Nnnooooooooooooooo - she's pretty and cute but hasn't done anything great acting wise since Leon.

Here you can share your opinions about what is the most overrated movie ever. The movies can be recent or old.

I think the most overrated in the past have been The Godfather trilogy. I just don't see what is so good about them and everyone I know think they are the best movies ever but I think they are very boring and slowly paced.

Totally agree about the Lord of the Rings trilogy, could not get into them at all, maybe if they were an hour shorter, I could say I liked them but not enough occurred to keep me watching for the entire 3 hours.

Thank God somebody mentioned my personal favourite in the 'loathed' category

'Forrest Gump' yeah I did 'get' it, still hated it, in fact I hated it so much it put me off Tom Hanks for a few movies, 'Castaway' didn't even get a look in coz I kept thinking of him 'running and running until he couldn't run any more, so he turned around and ran back the way he came' I swear to god, if I had seen him running I would have tripped the fool up; also since now I have gotten started in my rant about FG - what was tall that crap about him 'buying shares in an orchard' that turned out to be f***ing Apple Mac - Jeez...

Glad I got that off my chest, and BTW leave 'Shawshank' alone!

I totally agree - two vastly over-rated movies!!!

Apart from the wonderful turn by Daniel Day-Lewis Gangs of New York was a big disapppointment. Mind you, it was still better than Chicago, which I thought was really dire!

(discluding Godfather III)...

If you think the Godfather parts I and II are boring, then you are not someone that understanRAB the medium of film. You are clearly a person that sees film as a commercial entertainment and not an art, which it is.

I get enjoyment watching films from the acting, plot, writing, direction, originality etc... Can't you see the brilliance of Brando, Pacino, DeNiro, Cazale, Caan, Duvall and Diane Keaton in Godfather I and II? Or the magnificence of Coppola's directing? If not, then you've got to get some basic education about films.

Gangs of New York. Seen it for the first time on TV last night, what a let down. I didn't care about any of the people in it, they were all so bland.

I never found 'The Godfather' trilogy to be very good at all, not the worst but definately not the best of all time. I just find it too be quite dull, it drags on and on and on.

Also, not the most recent 'Star Wars' but the two ones before that were quite rubbish.

I personally found the latest Harry Potter extrememly overrated. I hope that people that hadnt read the books could understand it! Fingers crossed that Order of the Phoenix is split into two movies so nothing has to be left out!!
I still think Prisoner of Azkaban is the best one of the four.

True, though I don't think many would argue with you on that one, so maybe over-hyped is a better word than over-rated!

I don't care much for the Godfather either....not my cup of tea!! The only mob movie I have truely loved is 'The Untouchables'. There's just something about that genre that I don't get....
