the most disturbing film ever

The most disturbing film I have ever sene was ThreaRAB when it was on BBC4 last year about this time. I taped it incase I ever wanted to see it again and thankgod my sister taped over it with the MTV awarRAB, cos I dindt want to put that in the machine again and have it play one single bit of that film ever again. The idea that Britain could be turned into that in a amtter fo a few minutes was very veyr shocking and made me have nightmares for several weeks afterwarRAB. I was waking up at like 5am and one time a car with very bright headlights and I though "Jesus Christ its a f*****g Nuke". The worst part of the film was when you saw a group of people sitting round a fire in a watsed away old barn. They were all wearing nothing but rags, they were filthy and looked like they would die any minute. The camera zoomed back and some sub titles revelad it was "Dcember 25th". That realy hit hard.

ThreaRAB is one film I never want to be put through again. Apparantly my old school has a copy and it was going to show it to a class in 1987 (I think the film was made in 1984) but none of the parents would allow it (they sent out permission slips) so the film still lies in its plastic wrapper in some forgotten cupboard somewhere in the Englihs department.
 
Anyone watched 'Executions'? That has to be by far the most disturbing film ever. Only avaliable, AFAIK, on eBay (which is how I got it). It is an hour of clips of people being executed.
 
Some might think it's tame but The Exorcist gave me nightmares for weeks! Another, imho for sheer jump out your seat fright is Hitchcock's Psycho - especially the scene when the (detective?) is walking up the stairs in the Bates' mansion. You know what's going to happen but it still makes you jump when it does!!!

That's the most disturbing film i have had the misfortune to catch a glimpse of.
It featured the most horrific gang-rape.Too realistic as well,makes me ill thinking about it.
 
I found Videodrome really disturbing. Me and a friend watched it together. After about 15 minutes or so we were really freaked out by it, yet were unable to turn it off. Good film, but oooh did it leave me feeling weird after watching it. :(
 
"the cell" that was on tv recently was quite disturbing (apart from jennifer lopez and her quality acting :rolleyes: ) just the idea of being in a serial killers mind and all that could ensue.........
 
Saw that a good few years ago, when it was on general sale, my sis bought a copy before all the shops started taking it off the shelves because of the outcry.

The bit at the end where the guy is shot in the chest, then in the face is truly awful.
As I watched the video, I almost switched off a couple of times, but forced myself to see it through - then when that happened at the end I wished I HAD switched off.
The close-up of him struggling to breath, with his demolished face was the most disturbing thing I have ever seen.
I've seen a lot worse in movies, but it's not the same when you know it isn't real.
 
I still think 'Audition' and 'Ichi the Killer" are the most disturbing films I've ever seen.

The sentiment behind 'Crash' is also disturbing, although the film was a bore and nowhere near as disturbing as the book.
 
I would definitely agree with Platoon - a fantastic film but many disturbing scenes.
But the film that was most disturbing to me was 'My Little Eye' - it's the only film I've ever come out of feeling disturbed. It was the just whole idea of it with the snuff website and the way it was done - it was horrible.
 
Get any film on the Tartan Asia Extreme label, they are all so twisted. I watched one called 'Freezer' recently, it was about a woman who kept accidentaly killing people then keeping them in freezers in her living room. All was well till she maxed the electricity!!.
 
We're not talking about actual deaths on screen, though, are we? I've seen lots of docs that are incredibly disturbing. Plus, it takes no skill from those behind the camera. Aren't we talking about the use of fiction to creep out an audience?

Plus, why would you WANT to watch an hour of people being brutalised? I suppose you're the sort of person who scours the internet, looking for footage of US soldiers being beheaded. :(
 
For me personally, The War Zone. Perhaps it's odd, seeing what other films have been mentioned here, but I've never felt quite as sick from watching a film as I was when I saw it.

I expected the violence of The Football Factory to be disturbing but it never came close to how I felt about The War Zone - which was a pretty disturbing experience in a different way.
 
Yeah that's wierd. A bit disturbing in places.

I thought the much heralded "The Ring" (japanese version that is), was pretty boring and not scary at all.

What's the famous film about a group of the Nazi elite kidnapping the young men and women from local villages and keeping them captive in a big mansion, and subjecting them all to torture, rape, sodomy, you name it. Think the director is Italian. :confused:
 
IMO
Japenese films are the most disturbing. The idea of things like Battle Royale and Ringu or quite 'out there'.

I've also noticed most europion countries, like the French, Italian and Germany tend to have alot of rape scenes.

English films seem like their more 'verbally' disturbing, strong language and racist remarks.

And of course, American films try put as much blood in a film as possible, sometimes it seems there is more blood in an American film than there is body count.

That also makes an interesting subject too, what countries have the most disturbing films?
