The Mentalist (Merged)

Although I think it's alright, it's pretty much run of the mill and pretty weak in parts, I suspect the reason it's doing so well in the States and will do well just about anywhere will be the ladies swooning over the leading man, including me. :o
 
Just finished watching it on Five Demand. A great show with great actor. The Mentalist attracted 3.6 million viewers to Five. Simon Baker is a fantastic actor. now I see why Five decided to defer House for this show. How would you rate the show?
 
Last night's episode was great, the show really works with Simon Baker as Patrick Jane but the chemistry with the other characters is brilliant as well.

Aside from Jane, who is everyone's favourite character? Mine would have to be Cho.
 
Just started to watch this and gotta say i love it. Coz got them all on dvd it means its so much easier to watch than waiting a week for new epps.

Simon Baker is also so Sexy!!
 
Completely agree, some parts were cringe worthy:D. However Owain Yeoman ( Rigsby) seems like a great person in real life with a great sense of humour :)
 
The first two episodes didnt do anything for me. I am surprised it is a #1 show as its Acting and script arent great either, will give it two more episodes I think.
 
I've checked on imdb and Simon is not listed in the cast. This episode first aired in 1999 when Simon was already in the USA making films. So I'm sorry, but I don't think it could have been him :(
 
So it wasn't just my sky + recording at the wrong time then? I just tried to watch it and it wasn't there trying to watch it on demand but it says unable to load, I have never liked 5 OD it seems really slow and useless whenever I have tried it out.
 
I thought you might be interested in this quote from producer Chris Long -
"We are one of the last one-hour dramas in television to shoot film, and we want to hang onto film because we think it looks beautiful. So much of the HD can look good, where it does still struggle in the exteriors. So, therefore, you know, we shoot a lot of exterior. We want to see California. I guess we have a love affair with California, so we are sticking to film cameras. "
