The Goonies

Yep, I've always loved this movie!

My friend bought it for me as a surprise last year.. I must admit, I've only watched the DVD once, though.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, the three best things about The Goonies are:

1. The storyline, 2. The characters and 3. Cyndi Lauper

This has to be my fave childhood film EVER! It is just so cool and brilliant!

Hey You Guuuuuuuuuys!

Watched the DVD the other day as my mum hadn't seen it. She loves it now! Brilliant film. A must see...i wish i was a Goonie. :( I loved all the characters to be honest, but i loved Chunk a little bit more. :) The whole film is boss but the funniest scene is where Chunk tells them 'everything' :D

Remember Goonies Never Say Die!

when i was kid it was funny cause i have a brother called andrew and use to call him Andy for short so when ever he made me mad id shout to him " Andy you goonie" haha.

Data made some cool stuff in the goonies, The Boxing glove that came out of his jacket and shoes where oil comes out the back oh and them toy teeth he had on springs that stopped him falling into them spikes :D . When i was younger i tried to make things he had ;)

I think it was recertified a 12 as you say....Im sure this occured to a number of films though struggling to think what else. Also, Im pretty sure it was Batman Returns that was the first ever 12.

When The Goonies was released in 1985 into the cinema, it was given a PG certificate and 16 seconRAB of footage was cut.

When The Goonies was released in 1986 onto home video, it was given a PG certificate with footage cut.

When The Goonies was released in 2004 onto DVD, it was given a 12 rating with all previous cuts re-instated into the film.

The original Batman was the first film to be given a 12 certificate at the cinema, and that was back in 1989. The 12 certificate would not be introduced for home videos until 1994. So, any film released as a 12 in the cinema between 1989 and 1994 would either be released cut on video with a PG certificate, or raised up to a 15 certificate and left uncut.

Batman was released with a 15 certificate on video and was left uncut, and it has not been re-rated by the BBFC since. So it still remains as a 15 certificate film today, even though if it was re-rated, it would get a 12 certificte.

Batman Returns was given a 12 certificate in the cinema, but was cut to remove the scene with the aerosol can in the microwave. On video, it was given a 15 certificate with the microwave scene left in. In September 2005, it was re-rated by the BBFC for it's new DVD release and it has been given a 12 certificate, BUT the microwave scene has been removed again. The previous DVD release in December 2004 was rated as 15 and the microwave scene left in!

Paddy :D

I actually have the film on video recorded from the US Disney channel and it's both uncut and longer then any version of The Goonies released officially on Video or DVD.

A few deleted scenes that are from this version are featured on the DVD but that's it. They should have included the extended Disney cut for the DVD release. What's even more, they could have at least taken all of the deleted scenes restored to the Disney cut and put them on the DVD instead of just a few of them.

Is the commentary with a few of the actors together throughout, or is it recorded at different at times, and all put into one track? I hate those commentaries.

When i watch the DVD i notice loaRAB of things that were cut out of the uk cinema version and the version shown on tv. Its a cool DVD to get.

Alot of the cast that were in the Goonies have died now, they tell you on the DVD.
