The Family Guy Syndication Cuts List

As I type this, it is Monday the Tenth of September, and in mere hours Family Guy will debut in syndication in most local markets. Believe it or not, this IS a significant development....for those who have not had cable between 2003 and now. We exist--I'm living proof.

In mine it's airing at six, which must mean some cuts were made. Every syndicated hand-me-down has cuts for time, and the show still has a TV-14, but you know what I mean. I doubt some things in the show could appear at six. But we'll see.

Many of you will get a double-barrel hour version, with the first episode debuting next to an episode from the middle of the current stack of shows. My CW affiliate has it, and they're even showing an episode on Saturdays--no idea if it is a repeat from earlier in the week or not. A few years ago this moment would never have been thought possible, but here it is. Prepare for the revamped, time-compressed, insurance-commercial-ridden Family Guy!

"Until we're syndicated Fox will never let us die! Please?" --Stewie, Road to Rhode Island

Not an edit, but this is hilarious.

They got Picozzi from the radio station The Rock 106.9 (he's pretty famous on the internet for these comics) to do a local contest for Family Guy. They even inserted him into that scene where Peter was live-action.

I've missed seeing these local commercials... :p

Edit: Big Fat Paulie's death scene was unedited.

Edit 2: I think they zoomed-in on the part where Peter was asking about his growth.

JFK Pez Dispenser was--IN. I guess it's been long enough.

In "Paulie," Peter is cut off at "What do ya want me to do? Whack a guy? Off a guy?--"

In "The Son Also Draws" there's something on TV, and I don't remember the quote exactly, but there was an edit:

"I'll fix your sink. And by fix your sink I mean have sex with ya. And by have sex with ya I mean tinker with your reproductive organs. And by reproductive organs I mean [strike]the thing between your legs. And by the thing between your legs I mean[/strike] -- well I guess that one's kind of explanatory."

EDIT: Now I saw something pretty obvious where they cut out a cutaway. While trying to prove that he's an indian, Peter describes his father's accomplishments, all accompanied by cutaways. He talks about two of them, but the third one (something about Wounded Knee) has no cutaway attached to it, and the camera simply jump-cuts to Peter's next line.

The Fox affiliate has it here, and they're showing it at 7 and 11. They're not starting out with the first episode here, but 'I Never Met the Dead Man' (The one where Peter ruins the satelite dish).

No, that's how the original went.

It's been a while since I've seen either "The Son Also Draws" or "Holy Crap," so I couldn't spot any edits in either.

KTLA is showing it here. It's our CW affiliate (and a superstation), and owned by Tribune who bought exclusivity to the show for every market it has presence in. They're showing it at 7:30 and 11:30.

Last night, my CW affiliate aired "If I'm Dyin, I'm Lyin" on at 11pm at there were about 2 edits:

-The part where Bryant Gumbel was interviewing the purse snatcher.
-The scene in Black To The Future where "Marty McSuperFly" was talking to a white girl

I just watched "Death is a *****" and I can't say I noticed many edits but the one I did notice was rather interesting they cut the part when Peter references the programing on Fox on Wednesday night. So all he said was "I'll have nothing to watch on Wednseday night" and then he rushed into the cockpit.

WPGH, my Fox affiliate is showing it back to back with The Simpsons and they been hyping it up with commercials where they interacted in episodes or doing the same things.

There's a Sunday airing?

Death is a *****: Just like I figured, Death longer says "Or WILL I....?" in the car.

A Picture's Worth A Thousand Bucks: No edits.

The King Is Dead: "There's Something About Stewie" is cut.

Fifteen Minutes of Shame: Meg's visit to Quagmire's is cut, as well as half of the bedroom noises in the slumber party scene.

I can't help but notice that a number of episodes haven't aired in syndication yet, even though they do seem to be going in a specific order. We haven't seen 1ACX01 "Death Has a Shadow", 1ACX06 "The Son Also Draws", 1ACX11 "Holy Crap", or 1ACX13 "Love Thy Trophy", and they're already into the 2ACX's.

This makes me think - are there some episodes that just aren't going to appear in syndication? "Holy Crap" I can understand, since it's kind of a sensitive subject now that Pope John Paul II is dead, but I can't think of a reason why the other skipped episodes wouldn't air.

Here in the Seven Cities (that's the Norfolk/Virginia Beach, Hampton Roads, Tidewater, Greater Norfolk Area of Virginia), the Fox affiliate, WVBT (strangely, a Virginia Beach network headquartered at the NBC affiliate in Portsmouth) airs it at 7:30 PM and 11 PM. Which probably means that WAVY will repurpose it on weekends in some capacity.

Wonder what they're going to do with Seinfeld, which had been doing well in that slot for a year.

Can't say for sure -- seems like every affiliate does it differently. My affiliate aired "The Son Also Draws".

You don't live near an Indian reservation, do you?
