I can't really think of an appropriate category for them, you could call their first two albums funk metal. And while their later albums were more mainstream, it's still hard to attach them to a specific genre.

But whatever they are, it sure as hell ain't nu metal, and I'm seriously tired of hearing people say that. They have a DJ, so the f*ck what?

Nu metal banRAB are for super horny macho man frat boys. Incubus are way too girly to be nu metal. :laughing:
 
I started with a greatest hits and wasn't impressed at all. There just wasn't anything that interested me in the music. Then I decided since they were so legendary, they deserved a proper studio album listen. I got their debut and have been a huge Smiths fan ever since. There was something about putting those songs in the context of an album that just clicked with me.
 
The point of the thread is to explain to someone why an album is enjoyable. This is difficult to do if little feedback is given.

ok i understand , but when i first listened to it, it seemed to slow moving and a bit boring. just saying.

but maybe it's cause i didn't listen to it with headphones on, there's some recorRAB i heard lately that i should've done that in the first place, hehe.

but yeah i'll give it another spin
 
There's nothing really indie about Battles though (at least in regarRAB to the genre that indie has become - not indie as a reference to independent labels). And I think anyone who refers to them as post rock is just not familiar with the term math rock.

When I think of indie prog though (not a term I hear often), and I try to define it, all I can think of math rock. It's rooted in indie rock and played by very skilled and experimental players.

Wish You Were Here Clirabs Up to my nuraber 1 from PF at times, I think it's a much more solid album than Meddle.
 
Blur - Parklife

I think I've listened to it twice and bother occasions I just found it annoying and unmemorable but I see it regarded as some of their best work.
 
I'm not taking away the credit from Evans, I have a live album by the Bill Evans Trio and it's fantastic. And you're right it's probably his presence that makes it a favorite for Davis fans, but Davis still deserves credit too.

Bitches Brew, Miles Ahead, Sketches of Spain and On The Corner are other greats. But Kind of Blue probably best defines his cool/modal jazz period, which is my favorite era of his I guess.

I admit to only having heard a small portion of his gigantic discography however.
 
eh, Pink Floyd has never really been a band that would get you up and rocking, at least in my experience. but i do like this album as something to sit back and take in, doesn't mean certain parts don't get to me, though.

anyone care to explain? i mean, i don't completely hate it, a nuraber of the tracks are really good, but overall i just find this meandering and uninteresting.
 
That was a simplified post of appraisal and you know it. Abbey Road is nowhere as technically briiliant as Sgt.Peppers but Abbey Road is a warmer and more complete album to listen to. I have'nt listened to both albums for a while now and think they are BOTH over rated.
 
yeah, i'm just listening to it without watching and i could tell he reeks of douche. as for the vocals, he's better with less aggressive songs, the harder songs it seems like he's trying too hard to be hXc or something

I like the couple of singles off it, but apart from that I can't find anything else about this album that I like. :(
 
really? DNOTD is literally one of my favorite albums ever, and even the filler is great with alot of the jamming they do on it. in all honesty i felt vice versa when listening to it along with Zen Arcade.
