i really liked this album, but i can definately see why someone wouldn't. the songs you mentioned have more energy where alot of other songs seem to flow and sort of float, not in a bad way, imo, but i can see how someone would hate that. but yeah, from what you said on how the songs seem to plod along and don't do anything, and vaguely knowing some of what you listen to as pretty high energy, get-up and go kind of music, it's understandable how this wouldn't strike your fancy.

but yeah, i'd say i like it because of how it flows and the emotion in Thom Yorke's singing. plus some hooks with the instrumentation strike me as subtle and catchy. i'd say a good amount of people worship this cd because of how it came out and sounded like almost nothing at the time, especially from the guys who did "Creep" and were originally seen as a one hit wonder kind of band.

oh, and Airbag's one of my favorite songs too ;)
 
it may be the more challenging one, but it's really worth it, seeing as it helped shaped jazz music afterwarRAB with some of the things they did on there. it may sound weird, but with Bitches Brew, once you get it, you really get it


i'm listening to Kind of Blue right now, Blue in Green atm, and i'm starting to agree with Satch on this one. as a regular jazz album it's pretty solid, but as one of the greatest? eh, maybe.
 
I've already said I like a lot of punk. That doesn't just include the arty post punk stuff. I like Fear goddammit, and if there's one band I probably shouldn't like, it's them.



And how have The Stooges not dated? I think they're one of the most generic sounding rock banRAB ever, at least if you put them in the context of modern music.



Hell if you like them that's fine. I don't. And it's not because I can't appreciate loud and abrasive music.



I don't think length = wankery.

Steve Hackett could solo for 6 minutes and it not be wankery. Yngwie could solo for 30 seconRAB and it be wankery.

And yes, I think Ron Asheton was a wanker.



I'd generally rather listen to neo classical than some of the more dubious noise experiments of art punk and indie.

They were a really great band, it's a real shame they didn't get the recognition they deserved at the time. Today and This Is Our Music are both amazing albums but On Fire is the most consistent and just stanRAB above them that little bit more.

I never quite got this album, but I know a lot of people love it. Granted, they have a unique sound, but I find it a chore to listen to. "no evil" or whatever it's called is the only song I can sort of dig.Help me out.

Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot (it isn't bad, just I don't see what's so great about it).

and

Joanna Newsom - Ys (this is bad, the vocals bother me and I don't like the lyrics either).
 
I know I had problems getting into the Stones until I got over all that "greatest rock band in the world" crap. Forget about how good they're supposed to be. Let It Bleed and Sticky Fingers might not be the greatest albums ever, but there's some great stuff between those two recorRAB. Can't You Hear Me Knocking is their hidden gem, and it's far better than the tired Stones stuff that everyone's heard a thousand times (Start Me Up, Satisfaction, Get Off Of My Cloud, Brown Sugar).
 
Ah. I was just wondering if maybe the first album we each heard from them was different which lead to different expectations of the band, but I too heard Make Yourself first so there goes that theory. For me the order was Make Yourself then SCIENCE then Fungus Amongus then Morning View then complete loss of interest (though I've heard some of A Crow Left of the Murder...). I'm happy we can both agree that SCIENCE is up at the top of the heap though, I'm actually listening to it at this very moment as a result of this conversation. :)
 
Loosen up you`re taking this all too seriously, and by the way you`ve also evaded direct reponses to questions as well, instead preferring to to analyze things way beyond reasonable levels.

You`ve mentioned that you`re a singer, what type of stuff do you sing about?
