The Expendables

The scene in the tunnels 3/4's of the way through is worth the ticket price alone. Brutally creative fight scenes with good humour thrown in. That's what it's all about.

For me.

Screw the snobbish critics, I can't wait for this one. I don't want a story. I don't want a love interest. I just want mindless 80's action again!

That does make more sense thanks.

I will hold on to the fact that the ending scene truly was awful though.

The best thing about the film was the shotgun :D

Saw this yesterday and i bloody enjoyed it! :D

The trailer didn't do anything for me, i didn't find it exciting enough to be honest and despite being a fan of 80's action films and knowing this is meant to be a dumb action movie i went in with very low expectations and came out smiling! Stupid film, great action, funny one-liners. That's all it is. I thought the chemistry between Stallone and Statham was fantastic! They sort of gelled which was kinda weird! Lol.

If you walk into the theatre with the attitude i had you'll come out pleasantly surprised! I'd definetely watch the sequel if Bruce Willis is main bad guy.

The Expendables: 3.5/5

I enjoyed it a lot :D Great fun film in an 80's action kind of way. There were some funny scenes and jokes which made me smile - eg the bit where Statham says he's getting a text (at the start) and Stallone saying Arnie "wants to President" :D
Quite violent and graphic eg throats slashed, limbs hacked off, the things I had problems with were - the plot is pretty flimsy, the film was like it was 3D even if it wasnt (if that makes sense?), it felt like I was watching DV and there wasnt a "film" look to it, looked weird and wrong. Shame about the CGI blood which was very noticeable.
IT'S LOUD, TOO LOUD. Guns and stuff are so loud and conversely it was hard to understand what was being said.

I know I sound negative but I really enjoyed it though  :D Some 80's style action with humour - great :)

Managed to see it last night, i've been waiting to watch it since i heard the film was being made and have to admit i was dissapointed, yes lots of action, fighting, explosions, all them hollywood stars in one film yet i just felt a little let down with the film.

Much prefeared the 1986 film Delta Force with Chuck Norris & Lee Marvin. :D

watched it today, it was good fun with some great action and good humour BUT it felt a bit like playing a great video game in really easy mode - at no point did you ever doubt that statham and co could come to any harm, they beat up/killed/maimed the baddies far too easily for my liking and there wasnt enough tense action. The plot seems to be taking some hammering off the critics but I really didnt expect a character based drama so I didnt mind the flimsy plot.
Overall good fun, definately one to watch at the cinema but could have been done much better IMHO

I thought it was great. I was pleasantly surprised.

It's the kind of film that would make you grow a 3rd testicle. :D

So thats both The Expendables and The A-Team where I thought it was going to be pap but infact they turned out to be the best films I have seen in a while. :p

Saw this yesterday, great movie, lots of action and its just as gory as rambo, dolph lundgren was on top form, nice to see him back on screen after such a long absence,arnie/stallone/willis scene was classic!

saw this today - enjoyed it for what it was but just two main criticism's the dialogue was atrocious I know it's an action film but it was really bad and what the hell was the point of Charisma Carpenter character

On 1st September Stallone tweeted these two tweets.

Morning, just fiished up the DVD commentary for The Expendables...turned out great, think you'll like it.

Director'ss Cut will be in about six months and Inferno, which is the documentary, will be out soon - its hard core - everybodys on it.

I'm not bothered about the Director's Cut but Inferno interests me. He doesn't say if that is an DVD release or an TV show or what it is.

Apparently he's thinking of opening the sequel with an nuclear plant in Iran blowing up.

I thought Dolph was great :0

Have to say when Arnie was giving his little speech about the mission it really did remind me of his 80s flicks and I got really nostalgic all of a sudden, damn they were good times :)

Anyway, great movie, zero plot, really enjoyed it for what it was.

I expected it to be a let down, what I hoped for was a half-decent story, some memorable characters, dialogue and action sequences. This whole thing about how 80s action films were all mindless explosions doesn't jive with me, films like that were crap then and they remain crap now. Stallone's last two films had heart and a voice. This was just clich

I saw this today finally. Didnt mind the bad plot, bad acting etc it was expected and the cheese factor made it enjoyable (Grommit!).

What I hated was the camera work, Im so so so sick of jerky camerawork and pulling away all the time grr, gives me a headache.

Jet Li and Gary Daniels actually had a one to one fight at one point and we didnt eve see a single proper punch in it, bad bad directing.

On the plus side, I love the scene with Willis, Sly and Arnie, Stratham was good and so was Dolph Lungren Im amazed! Lungren neeRAB to do more acting again :D

And I wish I hadnt read the review before going, the comment about Sly looking like his spitting image mask stuck with me the whole film and I couldnt stop focusing on his eyebrows lol

We went to see in on Saturday and loved it. Yes the acting wasnt amazing and there wasnt much of a script really but it was fun and the fight scenes were great.
About 75% of the cast are not what I would call 'actors' anyway so I didnt expect it to be anything more than fun.

Yes he did fight Dolph but I kind of expected that to be dire!

I meant the scene where Li fights Daniels in the tunnels under the palace, they are both martial artists used to being properly choreographed it was a total waste IMO.

:/
