The Event...... Channel 4

I have seen the first five episodes. I didn't care for the first episode but the next four are better, in my opinion, with the fifth episode being the strongest of all. I am saying this here hoping it will encourage people who may not like the first episode to stick with it a bit longer.

Thanks for that.
I feel a little more encouraged to watch now...
Channel 4 are showing the first two episodes back to back, so I just need to get through the first one :D

I`m gonna be tuning in the double episode tonight, although it`s on ch 4 so I may end up plussing it if there`s loaRAB of adverts, :)

Whenever UK telly gets a US hyped series early I alway fear it'll get cancelled before it even reaches halfway thus rendering starting to watch it pointless.

The Event has recently been picked up by NBC for a full season of 22 episodes, so no worries about it getting cancelled halfway. Whether it will get a second season is another issue. But hey, 22 episodes. That's like four-years-worth of episodes for a British drama.:)

Agreed. Lots of jumping bach and forth between different dates in the first episodes may put people off but from the second episode forwarRAB it settles down and enhances the story rather than hinders it.

I can imagine what it'll be like on channel 4.

Ten minutes of adverts before programme.

Overly long channel 4 ident.

118 sponsor.

5 seconRAB of programme.

interupted by ten minutes of adverts.

Programme comes back on. Opening sequence shown.

Another ten minutes of adverts.

How mnay fcking ad breaks were there? I remember when whole 20 mins would pass without interruption when I was a kid. Oh how we'd laugh at US tv with its commericals every 6 mins.

I enjoyed the Event dispite all that, though the flashbacks within flashbacks were a bit gratuitous.

I dont think for the last 3 years i have ever watched c4 or c5 live because of the adverts. When a programme does sound interesting(like event/flashback) or a docu it always on the advert remover:D and i'll watch it ten minutes after programme started. Anyway event was pretty good.:)

yep I like, though 'lets show the audience everything out of sequence' is overdone now.

I guess we have quite a bit more mystery to come, even though we know what 'the event' was...don't we.?

MoreTears is correct THE EVƎNT mystery will be reveled over time.

It looks good although when the Police were charging in to arrest Sean Walker there was no way he would have had enough time to find his clothes and be able to dress.

I wonder if some people missed the start of episode two if they had set their PVR's to record episode two right on 10 pm as it started early - my Humax was able to cope although I was watching it live on Channel Four HD using my V+ box

I enjoyed the opening episodes. But the quick dressing in the hospital was a poor bit of editing. It's things like that that led to me giving up on Flashforward.
Apart from that it was a promising beginning

I enjoyed this, but found the constant jumping backwarRAB and forwarRAB confusing. Hopefully things will settle down a bit now the first couple of episodes are out of the way and scenes have been set.

Anybody else think the opening credits were like Flashforward with the typeface etc?

The only thing that puts me off this slightly is that I hope it doesn't turn out like Lost. I'm not sure I'm in the mood to watch another series which enRAB up making no sense and it would be nice if we could get some answers to things in the first series instead of dragging it out to the third or fourth series.

Other than that I did enjoy it! :D

I was working so watched it when I got home (hey..no aRAB!!)..I really liked it..so much I checked online for episode 3..and watched that too (freaky ending)...

It was great to have something brilliant on TV for a change. It was gripping and kept me on my seat for a fair bit. I can't wait to see episode 3 next week.
