The Event...... Channel 4

I was really looking forward to watching this programme and wasn't disappointed. However, found the flashbacks a bit confusing - mind you looking forward to next week

This as been bugging me since I saw it, maybe someone knows the answers -

1. How did the boyfriend get off the cruise ship when he ran from security, being as they where out to sea?

2. If his passport was with his stuff that went missing, how did he get back home to the US?

3. How did he know is GirlfrienRAB father was going to crash the plane?

4. How did he get on the plane being as he was a) wanted for murder and b) Didn't have a passport.

5. How did he get on the plane with a gun?

Quite liked it so far. Thought it was very heavily influenced by Lost (out of time sequencing, plane crash, but hey, since when was Lost a total failure?) There was a bit of 24 in there as well (black president, whats the obsession with that all of a sudden? I mean I get Obama and stuff, but really? Every president now is black? Whats that about?)

I did suspect aliens quite early on though, when the CIA guy was talking to the President in the oval office and he had the file on them, I thought it might be aliens and then they almost went out of their way to avoid calling them "people" until the reveal. But again, so what?

The wife lost interest when the aliens were revealed, she hates sci-fi, but I was pretty much engrossed the whole way through the first two episode and I'm looking forward to more. Some of it was a bit laughable - e.g the bloke in hospital, supposedly a murderer just gets up and dressed and walks out of his room with no one noticing. Agree with the other poster, the chase scenes were a bit overdone.

I'm fully expecting this to not get a second season, due to its similarities to Flash Forward, but fingers crossed. I'm happy to know I'll get to enjoy at least one full season.

6) Why the convoluted kidnap plot, which relied upon Sean & Leila happening to go for a walk near Greg & Vicky, & relied upon Sean then saving Vicky, & relied upon Sean then going snorkelling with Vicky. Would have been far simpler if "They" had just killed Sean & taken Leila, instead of all the Greg & Vicky nonsense.

4 & 5 have sort of been answered for those watching at "US Pace".

i reckon 3 and prob 5 will be revealed in a later flashback, 4 a - 'they' didn't change recorRAB until after the plane crash, 2 and will be ignored, 4b - internal flight, 1 I have no idea.

Unless Vicky is some sort of mole in D B Sweeny's gang and wanted to get Sean (and possibly Leila) out of the way before DB tried to grab them up. Even then, it's still a pretty convoluted way of meeting someone.

What puzzled me was that when he was in the hospital, Sean got the nurse to call the cops, but when they turned up he ran away. They came in a bit gung-ho, but he was on a plane that tried to crash into the Prez, dissapeared from LA (I guess), reappeared in the desert and promptly crashed. I'm pretty sure they'd like to have worRAB with him ASAP.

Only just managed to watch this and I found the going backwarRAB and forwarRAB very confusing and annoying. I was looking at my watch for most of it but my interest picked up when he went to the room and couldn't open it. Then the cruise organisers said they had no trace of him. My interest picked up at that point.

Will give it another go, but I have to say it is not grabbing me like FastFoward, which grabbed me from the first five minutes! If I am not transfixed by the second episode I think it will not get taped again.

Gosh! It is as bad as Flannelforward. Even shaking the camera about as if the cameraman has the DTs failed to make it look exciting.
At least Laura Innes has faired slightly better than Goran Visnjic who ended up in The Deep. "shudders*
