The DS Eurovision Thread (Part 8)

I hear ya! With Abba and Celine... even though they're probably not my favourite songs on the list... they're the ones I know every word, note and key change like the hairs on my ar....ms ;) I would feel wrong not giving them points... what a clever choice by two of our members ;):D

Yeah but Greece do well every year anyway - they don't need Cyprus. Cyprus, don't do well most years and the continued support from Greece makes no difference.

Same with Belarus and Russia. If we were banning countries who reguarly vote for Russia, we may as well re-enact Eurovision 1992.

And Balkan support tenRAB to change in different years depending on which country has the best song.

Also, I said it could be about personal preferences or vendettas, and I am choosing to have a issue with Moldova. :p

Submittrd my votes. Going to Utrecht today for some kind of ESC-meeting with some people I know, and some people I dont know, but could be OK. Very low expectations...

Probably back here on Tuesday to look at the results :)
Already decided a song for next week. Can't see anyone else pick the same :)

And that's just naughty!!

I missed the whole thing about the Balkan entries - I think EuroChris posted and then edited whilst I was having a row with Little Anzej!

Can anyone enlighten me?

And my shoulda been an ESC entry song is EPIC! not even gottago will beat it....

I've chosen a song, I think it's not only bad but incredibly lazy.

I think Cry Baby is a fairly decent song. I felt sorry for the girl but yes, that guy really grates. Comes across as very much in love with himself.

Pump Pump is brilliant. From the year my parents got married...strange times! The lady with blonde curly hair is pretty epic. What's with the couple on the side though? They out-creep the piano guy!

It's a very murky gene pool from which we're having to pick our Balkan favourite. I'm now on my fifth choice (yes someone got Naz Rock ahead of me :p;)) at this rate I'll be left with "Rock Me". Has anyone calculated the total number of songs available?

In the unlikely event the UK ever stages Eurovision and it wants to outdo Dusseldorf then Cardiff's Millennium stadium would be the place. Close the roof and you could have 60,000 there although It would have to be reduced to cope with backstage requirements.

Oh my days, Greece 2002 is an absolute classic. "We can turn the apple down." The best bit is at 40 seconRAB in when you see a shot of the audience sitting there completely motionless. I can just imagine their faces being like :-O :D It's like a few Greek restaurant waiters have got together as a dare or something. I now know where Alcazar got their original Alcastar outfits from three years later!

And thank you to whoever nominated Denmark 1997, I love it! I especially love their balls to broadcast a telephone conversation in nothing but Danish which about 0.1% of viewers would have been able to understand! :D

I'm really enjoying going through these videos, some of them are hysterical. Then again there are the ones that genuinely repulse me which I cannot watch all the way through such as Latvia 2009 and 2010 and of course Switzerland 2004.

At the rate the songs are being picked up by others I was going to say I'd probably end up with "Nai Bo" as my only option but it would seem it's worse than that..........if that's possible.:(:(

Totally true. Even the fans were confused - it just isn't a Eurovision song! I'm sure I didn't hear the official version until the official CD came out a week befiore the contest. I know the BBC are bad, but I don't think many Eurovision entries are treated as badly as "Un Bloody Mary" was by its broadcaster.

I've already thought of my 'should have been an ESC song' entry. I've always thought of it being the ideal Eurovision song ever since I first heard it, and I think everybody else on here will agree. :)

Spooky moment! After mentioning to RogerMilla earlier that I never hear random Eurovision songs in real life, am experiencing (sort of) it right now!!!

It's nearly 5am at work, and nice n quiet, my supervisor has stuck "Gold's Greatest Hits" on the Sky box and I am listening to Mary Hopkin "Those Were The Days" :D

And there is no one here who would be remotely interested :(
