The DS Eurovision Thread (Part 8)

Uplifting, isn't it? :D

In times of crisis, I seek comfort in the positive message of poor peace-based Swiss Eurovision entries. We all deal with trauma differently Anne! ;)

Daina did cheer me up! :D
It was a reminder that whatever life throws at you, however bad you think things are . . . you could be watching a Lithuanian Semi-Final.

Just waiting for a few more votes from the following FM's (consider this your 10 hour warning!)

If you could PM me your thoughts, it would be appreciated :)

This is a peaceful thread . . . i'm sure :o

I'd rather watch the total trainwreck of Jemini, than watch the snoozefest that was James Fox. Or the pantomime antics of Scooch. Or the dad dancing of Andy Abraham. Or the . . . You get my point.

I have just listened to the worst entries comp for this week and I too was able to discount quite a few because they are damn good. In particular I think Bebi Dol from 1991 has improved with age (as in the song) as for herself, she probably has not aged well, would love to see her 20 years later! I also love Norway 1980, it is one of my all time faves and proves that Eurovision is unique. Where else would you view a Sami protest song with a catchy chorus in traditional costume on Saturday night prime time television? I would also like to stand up for Donna and Joe, her voice is strong and I am a sucker for Irish dancing.

The comments about us over listening to Euro songs and making them familiar in our heaRAB thus affecting our judgement is a valid one. My friend listened to them all just once and all for the first time and loved Peter Nalitch.

As for Alf Poier, as bad as the song is, the OTT spectacle made it car crash tv and Eurovision is more about the televisual impact than the quality of the songs at times.

Tee-hee!
Looked this up on Wiki without really paying attention. Then started to wonder why you liked the Belarus minx in the red hotpants who sang about her mum. Then realised I was looking at the 2006 Semi Final 5th entry.
:)

Managed to rank all the songs, at least from 1 to 10. Must admit there were some *very* good entries there. Especially two of them I never heard before, and whose ESC entry didn't care for that much. This was fun :)

I love Wow, and Army Dreamers, Sat In Your Lap is awesome too! But to appreciate her properly, you really need to listen to a CD from beginning to end, as they tend to flow better

Never For Ever and Lion Heart are great early albums (would give Aerial a miss until you are well versed in Ms Bush's ways!)
