The Definitve List: Most Overrated Bands\Artists ever

You might be right, it could actually be sub-standard not mediocre. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but I can not be convinced that album is not 10 steps backward after Kid A and Ok PC. I never listen to it anymore, meanwhile the rest of the discography stays in rotation.

I love Bob Dylan, I enjoy the way he plays but Bob Dylan is not a great Guitar player, and not even a good harmonica player. He gets the job done, it all fits and there is no denying the lyrics or the power his music had on people.

The first thing you need to understand is that no one blows their brains out because they "feel misunderstood" that's like saying someone dies from sneezing. It's a symptom, Cobain was suffering from a disease and not being treated. He was an addict, his addiction caused severe depression, distortion of reality and ultimately his death. To chalk it up to merely a bad or cowardly decision shows a gross misunderstanding of his condition.

I tend to agree with your opinion on their musical catalog, I like In Utero is a very good album and Nevermind is above average, but I tend to think the circumstances of Cobain's death have elevated the band's status. Much like the status of Hendrix, Joplin, The Doors, Tu-Pac and others who meet unfortunate and untimely enRAB.

Second Buddy Holly was like 20 when he died, maybe a bit older but nowhere near 27.

I would say Aerosmith are clever songwriters and talented sure, but I don't know that they wrote too many great songs. A lot of music I like but tire of quickly. What would you say to that?

Too methodically obvious to respond to ?

All I did was ask you to clarify your definition of what you are talking about.

I didn't refute anything , i didn't misrepresent anything , i didn't manipulate anything and i'm not trying to sell anything.

All I did was ask you to go into a bit more detail about your opinion so I could see where you were coming from.

And you have spent an entire paragraph trying to avoid doing so and insisted on calling me out in some silly faux one-upmanship which is actually what I was trying to avoid. I'm not trying to refute any of your claims because quite honestly I have no idea what any of them are yet.

I don't even know why i fancy her. There's just something about her that makes me want to take her to a bowling alley and buy her a coke (guess the Stripes reference!)

I like the Eagles. Great mellow band to stick on when in a certain mood. Maybe they're over rated in the States but I don't think they are over here in Europe.

Had no idea that since my opinion differs from YOURS that I'm wrong? Fine by me, the whole "he killed himself" must've touched a nerve? but like I said, I think Kurt should be remerabered more for being a huge "fraud" and a "coward", then a "legend".

OK. Time to get real. I have some questions for your ass holiness if you would be kind enough to indulge me. Where did the term "Progressive Rock" come from? What does the term mean? It has an absolute definition and if you think for one second in your pea brained nonsensical mind that radiohead is progressive rock you are a bigger idiot than could be imagined.

Now, boy wonder, WTF does Progressive Rock mean?

Please give me an example specifically of something I said that was clinically and provably wrong. You're showing your age big time.

Gotta say I agree with the inclusion of John Lennon's solo stuff. And can I put in a early request for Imagine as the most over-rated song of his. I know it's his biggest hit and for that reason it's the biggest target to be touted as 'over-rated' but I've just never gotten the hype surrounding it. The amount of times that song has come out on top as the best song of all time is criminal. It's a dull monontonous song that doesn't tug on the heart strings. It just winRAB and meanders on. This isn't me being unappreciative of slower more reflective songs. They're my favourite type of songs. This just does nothing for me.

Anyone at all out there agree with me?!

Oh c'mon now, I agree that Pet SounRAB is a bit overrated, but it's still a great album and Brian Wilson was one of the best melodicists around. Not liking them is one thing but calling them talentless is just plain wrong, their vocal harmonies were brilliant and just because Carl Wilson was no Jimmy Page and Dennis was no Bonzo dosen't make them horrible musicians either. Brian Wilson is a favorite songwriter of mine. The post Brian stuff IS pretty horrible though.

If anything, the worst band to consistantly be compared to The Beatles is The Rolling Stones, they haven't done a damn thing as innovative as The Beatles, or The Beach Boys, at at least 30 other banRAB from the 60s.

Five Live YardbirRAB is okay. Pretty much everything after the big three (Clapton, Beck and Page) left has been devoid of talented songwriting. They just retained fans because of the name.

If you go back a few pages and read this...

...a message to ALL merabers to tone it down.
You didn't.

I am being fair. That's why you only got a warning.

Haha, I just read it, that guy was a douche. I was browsing his other posts, and he gets put in his place after insisting KMFDM invented Industrial music. I missed out on that lol-fest.

if anything Kanye is underrated.

you know garbage about music. Only person who should be on the list is Drab.

seriously, I am ashamed you have the VU banana on your avatar. You are unworthy to be a fan.
