The Definitve List: Most Overrated Bands\Artists ever

Firstly, to deal with this:

I think it's you who seem to know "garbage" about music. Kanye is overrated, a lame rapper, and a TERRIBLE rhymer. He has virtually no redeeming MC skills at all. That you seem to think otherwise is a plain indication of exactly what you accused Jay of. Sorry to be the one to break it to ya.

You do know that Morrison didn't write Back Door Man, right?

Anyway, I have to admit that I used to love the Doors (for about six months), but nowadays I never really feel like playing their recorRAB. I do like The End, Crystal Ship, and a few others. When The Music's Over, on the other hand, is pretty awful.

I respect that and will proceed with caution. Just know that while I love music as much as any inanimate or intangible thing in the world but I don't take discussing it all that seriously.

...

Radiohead may be overrated, but they're a far cry from all the crap I hear on the radio nowadays. I'm pretty sure most (if not all) regular users here enjoy Radiohead to somewhat of a degree. And if Kiss is your idea of good music, I'm not entirely sure this forum is right for you...

I like this thread. No need for all the semantics. Whether you call it "over rated", "lame" or just "banRAB that I don't get", it's pretty obvious what the OP is expressing.

I can't stand U2. Radiohead is also extremely boring and pseudo intellectual IMO. Most art pop is.

Agreed.

Actually his post Beatles music is quite good.

I like both of these guys.

I thought so too, but then I heard Exile on Main St. One of the greatest ****ing albums ever. Also, to be honest, Zeppelin doesn't deserve to be included in the same sentence as The Beatles, The Who and The Rolling Stones. I love Led Zeppelin but in terms of songwriting, The former three piss all over them.

Agreed even though I really like them.

Actually Bruce saved Rock and Roll from disco.

The Joshua Tree is a beautiful album.

I would add:

Syd Barrett
Sublime

Also I'm adding Lil Wayne. I'm tired about hearing how great you are at various things please shut the **** up.

Beautiful write up on the Eagles, mate. I can't stand them - my roommate loves Hotel California et al... blech. Boring is right. And you are right on the money with Joe Walsh. Rocky Mountain Way is in my Top 150 favorite songs. Maybe Top 100 if I'm feeling nostalgic.

Obviously I did not know that or I would have used another song. I looked it up it's Willie Dixon, the liner notes don't mention that however. Thanks for the correction, I'll edit the post.

Man, you talk about self contrived nonsense. Bull**** according to who? You have provided ZERO references to back up what you are contending. ZERO.

Incidentally Art Rock has NOTHING to do with your spouted nonsense about "art used in conjunction" with a music group. That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Art Rock was a term used to denote the most elaborate of PROGRESSIVE ROCK groups like Yes & ELP.

Man, it's not me here that isn't making sense or spouting bull****. People NEED to stop being defensive and start making with the logic. I am still pretty awed by the Urban Hate person. Now that's some tricky logic but you'll understand me better when I reply.

Well, perhaps I was being a little unfair. But after listening to those two songs you just mentioned, I didn't have the patience to explore his musical catalogue any longer.

hahaha i dont really blame you but he does have a couple good ones "cleanin' out my closet" and "stan" are pretty good "guilty conscience" is almost there...but the end of it debases the entire meaning of the song "like toy soldiers" isnt to bad either
