The Dark Knight SPOILER thread **Do NOT read if you've not seen it**

I know that but still it just seemed so...Pointless.

I quite enjoyed The Scarecrow in the first Film so you could say I was a little dissapointed how they just resolved that part of the Story too easily.

But like I said, that was just a minor problem for me personally and it didn't really ruin the Film for me at all.

And like I've said in my Review, the fantastic performances from Christian Bale, Aaron Eckhart, the late Heath Ledger and the rest of the supporting Cast is what made this Film into an amazing Movie Of The Year it has become IMO:).

Fantastic review, Claire. Well done. 10/10 Absolutely agree with you about Heath Ledger's performance. It was a master class. You rarely see actors dissolve into a character like that. It was like seeing The Joker for the first time, as what he truly is.

I would say that I liked the openness of the city lanRABcapes. Most of those shots were from high above, which gave perspective to the narrative that people are like ants and insects to be manipulated by these more-than-human vigilantes / villains. Thought it was a subtle touch that really enhanced the story as well as giving a 'superhuman' feel to what was less of a superhero story and more of a crime thriller.

i'm undecided really - might have to go and see it again.

i liked it, but it wasn't the blow-me-away, bestest-film-ever-made experience i was led to believe i'd get by the hype.

heath ledger was quite brilliant, completely eclipsing Nicholson's joker.

Bale was .. annoying at times. And the growling .. just made me laugh, because in one scene he growled so much it was unintelligible.

i liked it .. but ..........

Just wanted to add, I normally go to see these types of movies for the effects and whatnot. I loved that they weren't so heavy handed with all of that. This was honestly one of the best action movies I've seen in a long, long time. Definitely the best Batman movie, bar none.

That bit was just... spine-tingling...

My favourite moments:

The whole scene between The Joker and Maroni and his men...
The whole chase sequence - the Batpod flipping up the wall, and turning itself around.
The Joker clapping manically when Gordon gets told he is Commissioner - 'Evening Commissioner'
The interrogation scene - 'I don't want to kill you!'
Alfred's Burma story
The Joker - 'I'm a dog chasing a lorry - I wouldn't know whatta do with it if I caught it!'
The last scene - the whole dialogue... amazing

Also think back to when Batman had Maroni over the side of the balcony he says something like "A fall from here wouldn't kill me" it was a similar height two-face fell from almost pre-shadowing what would happen later on.

Batman and Robin actually made me really angry. Poison Ivy is a great vilain and the first time she is portayed in live action it is a complete insult. I'm sure if Uma Thurman had been given the chance she would have played her very well, but instead they went for total camp. Not only that but Bane was ruined, as was Freeze.

I am very grateful to Chris Nolan for making iconic Batman vilains like The Scarecrow, Joker and Two-Face vey real and believable. Its interesting that Two-Face made it into Nolan's 'real' world, but they found a way to do the character without requiring a lot of suspension of disbelief.

Some interesting points from Nolan and co about the 3rd (if made) film villains. Contains possible spoilers.

I can't see that character appearing. Look at BB and TDK, the villains are totally real. Nolan even took the comic book immortality of Ra's Al Gul and eluded to it being a 'cheap parlour trick'. Killer Croc is a complete fantasy character with no semblance of reality, as are the likes of Bane and to a degree Mr. Freeze. I think any of those would look out of place in Nolan's world. The Ventriloquist definitely could work though.

Personally I'd rather that no version of Robin ever appear.

Er...you may wanna skip Batman & Robin which nearly destroyed the franchise, but thankfully WB decided to take a gamble with Chris Nolan and won.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but they didn't even refer to his daughter by name. Gordon called his wife 'Barbara', but the daughter's name was never mentioned.

Anyway I don't think either Robin or Batgirl would fit in Nolan's films. IMO Batman is much more interesting as lone crusader, sidekicks just humanise him too much and make it less interesting.

YAP! You're right there xx~KC~xx:).

And also what I noticed on second viewing (can't believe missed it the first time to be honest because it was right there in my face:o!) the lucky coin landed the life side up, another clue;)!

Either that or I'm looking into it too much:o!

(Being a Fangirl sure is curse eh:o?)

Its only about 10 minutes longer than the likes of Star Wars, Spiderman, Superman, Indiana Jones and all the other big films.

And a lot shorter than the likes of the Lord of the Rings or the Godfather.

And, indeed, it is only 12 minutes longer than Batman Begins. I really don't get why so many people complain about the length
