The Dan In Real Life DVD - 2 different ratings (box & DVD) - Dodgy?

Hi,

I'm needing a bit of help, or more clarification I suppose... I bought a 2nd hand copy of Dan In Real Life on DVD through Ebay. Anyway the seller has 100% feedback of 625, so I wasn't worried about the transaction and indeed I paid for 2nd class postage for it on Sunday and just got it in the mail today, which I thought was very good, quick delivery etc.

However, im confused and slightly alarmed because I noticed something that doesn't seem right. I really don't want to jump to conclusions or anything but what it is, is that the DVD box has the 'PG' symbol/rating, which I checked online and the movie itself is rated PG in the UK, so thats correct but when I opened the box, the DVD inside has a 15 certificate, which is a much higher rating... I checked the DVD and it looks fine, I played it on my DVD player and it plays fine, the copyright warning and everything shows up like normal and the menu looks right and everything. I don't like to presume its some dodgy pirated or illegal copy because it has the wrong rating on the disk but it just seems a little weird... I know on, for example, the Dodgeball DVD, that has a 15 rating, whereas the movie is only rated 12 and thats because the special features were rated 15, so I wondered if its something like that, that might explain the different ratings but with Dodgeball, on both the box and the disk I think it shows the higher rating.

It does seem strange that the box only shows PG and then as soon as you open it, it clearly shows a 15 symbol... but as I say, the DVD appears to play back fine, the quality is good and the menus and copyright warnings and other movie trailers etc. play like normal. I've never had a dodgy DVD before but I'd like to think this isn't dodgy, it does seem pretty strange though, so I don't know...

Does anyone else have this DVD and can you confirm what rating is shown on the disk? does anyone know if this might have been a mistake made by the company who made the DVRAB? I don't want to accuse the seller of selling illegal DVRAB if im wrong and she has such good feedback, no-one else has accused her of this, plus the DVD came with the box with a flyer for a Fathers Day competition with the Daily Express, so I don't feel sure it *is* dodgy, im wondering if this is just an error the DVD company made or something?

Anyone have any idea? let me know please, I wasn't sure where else to ask about this... thanks in advance for any replies.

See, this is the DVD box:- http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v15/RoksGoldenSmile/?action=view&current=Img_1300.jpg

and this is the DVD disk with the different rating, inside the box:- http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v15/RoksGoldenSmile/?action=view&current=Img_1301.jpg

im thinking it is a mistake by the company that produced them and have left the seller good feedback as she was good at communicating about the transaction and I got it quickly and it just doesnt seem fake at all, the DVD seems perfectly normal, the picture quality is fine and there's no other reason to think its dodgy, so, I hope im right... but you can see why its confusing, with the two ratings... I wonder if it is something on the special features with a bit of swearing maybe, that affected the rating(?) maybe it says somewhere on the box but its not very noticeable(?) *shrug*

Ahh ok, thats what I wasn't sure, if they were all like that or not... I wonder if they noticed? they should sell them off really cheap as seconRAB or something lol... mind you I can't complain, I only paid

Yeah, thats fine by me, I just had this paranoid part of me that wondered if it meant it was a fake/illegal copy, like someone selected the wrong symbol to put on the graphic to print onto the DVD or something... but it didn't look like a disk that had been cheaply printed, I wasn't convinced I just had never had a DVD that clearly showed conflicting ratings on the box and disk before, so it made me wonder... thanks for the info. & link :) its just as well I didn't accuse the seller of giving me a dodgy DVD, I hate confrontations and wouldn't want to get involved in such an argument and given their feedback, I didn't think it was likely they were a dodgy seller... and if the seller is reading this then sorry I doubted you, I just wanted to double check. I could almost understand if the box said PG and the DVD said 12, with a small bit on the back of the box noting the 12 rating relates to a commentary or bloopers or something but it seemed weird to show a PG rating and then a 15 one and have no explanation *shrug* but anyway, thanks for the replies, now I know :D
