Hi,
I'm needing a bit of help, or more clarification I suppose... I bought a 2nd hand copy of Dan In Real Life on DVD through Ebay. Anyway the seller has 100% feedback of 625, so I wasn't worried about the transaction and indeed I paid for 2nd class postage for it on Sunday and just got it in the mail today, which I thought was very good, quick delivery etc.
However, im confused and slightly alarmed because I noticed something that doesn't seem right. I really don't want to jump to conclusions or anything but what it is, is that the DVD box has the 'PG' symbol/rating, which I checked online and the movie itself is rated PG in the UK, so thats correct but when I opened the box, the DVD inside has a 15 certificate, which is a much higher rating... I checked the DVD and it looks fine, I played it on my DVD player and it plays fine, the copyright warning and everything shows up like normal and the menu looks right and everything. I don't like to presume its some dodgy pirated or illegal copy because it has the wrong rating on the disk but it just seems a little weird... I know on, for example, the Dodgeball DVD, that has a 15 rating, whereas the movie is only rated 12 and thats because the special features were rated 15, so I wondered if its something like that, that might explain the different ratings but with Dodgeball, on both the box and the disk I think it shows the higher rating.
It does seem strange that the box only shows PG and then as soon as you open it, it clearly shows a 15 symbol... but as I say, the DVD appears to play back fine, the quality is good and the menus and copyright warnings and other movie trailers etc. play like normal. I've never had a dodgy DVD before but I'd like to think this isn't dodgy, it does seem pretty strange though, so I don't know...
Does anyone else have this DVD and can you confirm what rating is shown on the disk? does anyone know if this might have been a mistake made by the company who made the DVRAB? I don't want to accuse the seller of selling illegal DVRAB if im wrong and she has such good feedback, no-one else has accused her of this, plus the DVD came with the box with a flyer for a Fathers Day competition with the Daily Express, so I don't feel sure it *is* dodgy, im wondering if this is just an error the DVD company made or something?
Anyone have any idea? let me know please, I wasn't sure where else to ask about this... thanks in advance for any replies.
