The CW4Kids Talkback: Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's [The Fortune Cup Saga] (Spoilers)

Damn. Goodwin look pretty bad ass grabing that spinning spike.

Well they did show a crater where the village used to be. So the viewers pretty much know what happend to the village.

This was a pretty nice and fun episode. I liked how Yusei was trying to comfort Leo about his loss. I think that Yusei knew that something was different with Akiza when they first crossed pass in the hallway. Sir RanRABborg was voiced by Eric Stuart and I thought that the accent was a nice touch. It made him funnier and more interesting than just an odd guy wearing a suit of armor. I wasn't surprised that his monsters were all knights. I did like some of the carRAB he used for his knights though. One thing that I liked about Akiza right from the start was how she stayed calm when she was under direct attack. While I usually don't mind it when other duelists have done that in the past, after seeing it for so long, it is nice to someone being calm for a change of pace.

As for her voice, I agree that it did feel kind of high pitched and I thought she could have sounded a tad older, but I was generally fine with it by the end of the episode. It just might take her voice actress awhile to really find the right voice for her character. I totally loved it when Akiza summoned the Black Rose Dragon on her first turn. It really did come to life, which was so awesome. I guess that she didn't mind being known as the Black Rose since she gave away her idenitity by playing that card. It had a really nice and useful effect as well.

I was impressed with Akiza's deck as a whole. I haven't seen a female character having a deck that powerful since I first read the GX manga and saw how Alexis's deck was better than her anime version was. I give Sir RanRABborg some credit for fighting back, but I agreed with Yusei on how Akiza had the duel won for awhile. He was so confident in his own moves that he didn't think or expect Akiza to do anything about it. Even when she was down to fifty life-points, she didn't lose her cool at all. I loved how she won with Black Rose Dragaon too. While I did kind of feel bad for Sir RanRABborg, mainly for how he stopped using that accent and sounded like a little kid, the facts that Akiza is a Signer and that he thought to himself his stragety pretty much showed that he lost.

I was kind of surprised that the crowd started to boo Akiza after she won. While I do see that bringing the monsters to life does make the damage more intense, as the scratch on Sir RanRABborg from a leaf during an attack proved it, but I would be just really impressed with her win if I was in the crowd. Besides, it just felt rude. I could also see why they couldn't detect any energy from Akiza since she never let down her guard at all during this duel. Be that as it may, the way that Yusei's arm was hurting throughout the match, as was Jack from the way that he was holding his arm like that, I think that it's pretty safe to say that Akiza is a Signer. Plus, she did say that Yusei also had a mark, which suggested that she also has one. I wonder who that guy watching from afar was. I thought that they looked related, like brother and sister, but that's just a guess.

Overall, it was a fun episode and a great duel. My favorite parts were when Akiza summoned Black Rose Dragon. While I could see her voice improving, I'm overall content with it as it is. I'll be looking foreword to see what else happens in next week's episode.

Eric Stuart, doth Shakespearan British accent hath made mine ears bleed red rivers on mine floor of white carpet.

*ahem* Although I'll admit they called it out through dialogue and having Stuart break character at the end. Anyway, I'm not feeling Akiza's voice. I was hoping for "deep and mysterious", not the high-pitched, light Eastern European-accented voice Bella HuRABon is using.

I can understand why it feels weird that they didn't just say dead, but I thought that it was pretty obvious that they were all dead with the term gone and of course, the image of where the village once was. So, it wasn't like it was too hard to figure out that they were all killed somehow.

Really? It was a great twist to come out of left field, but I wasn't expecting him to die. He serves an important role in the plot with finding the five Signers so I didn't think he would die when he hasn't even confirmed more than two or three Signers now.

I thought that this was a great episode. Greiger was really going at it with Yusei. He wasn't letting up at all, even though he really does respect Yusei and why he wanted to win for his frienRAB. I really felt bad for Greiger when he was crying after he learned about what happened to his village. That was probably really hard to take in and then try to win the duel. I was really impressed how Yusei defeated his monster with the special effects of the card Rally gave him. That was nice since it showed how Yusei really cares for his frienRAB. I really thought it was cool how Greiger's monster was blown up like that. Too bad that it cost Yusei a lot of life points.

Even with that lost, Greiger was still trying to beat Yusei and he came pretty close a couple of times. Yusei just barely got out of a couple of his direct attacks. I think almost every time I see Yusei duel, I become more impressed with his skills and his luck for pulling the right card at last minute in true Yu-Gi-Oh! protagonist style. His recent moves, like removing Junk Warrior from play, just fell into possesion when Yusei played that last Speed Spell. It was so awesome when he won the duel.

I was surprised that Greiger told the whole statium about how Goodwin destroyed his village. I was even more surprised when Goodwin didn't do anything about it. I'm not sure how many people wouldn't believe him since I thought that Greiger showed pictures or maybe I'm mixing that up with the images in Greiger's memories or something like that.

Anyway, my mouth dropped to the floor when the spike went the window and Goodwin just caught it like it was nothing. I was surprised that Jack wasn't sacred either since he saw it coming. I was so shocked to see that Goodwin has some mental hand underneath that glove. Dang. I also loved how Yusei pushed Greiger away before he landed right on Goodwin. That was so intense. Even though Yusei doesn't trust Goodwin either, he knew that attacking him like that wouldn't do Greiger any good, which is true. Though, I don't know how much trouble Greiger will get in now for attacking Goodwin like that. Still, that was an awesome way to end the episode.

Overall, it was a fun episode. I enjoyed the ending to the duel and of course, the attack on Goodwin was a total suprise and completely intense. I'm so looking foreword to next week to see what happens next.

Actually, I think Kreiger's description gives a better idea of what actually happened than "dead" would have, particularly since Yusei has no visual aid. The people are not just dead--the village itself isn't there any more.

Sure, could the dialogue have been written to say both things? Sure enough. Was it described in that particular way precisely in order to not use the word "dead"? Most likely. But given the circunstances, I think the dialogue fit.

Episode 22

English Title: The Profiler

Unfortunately, there is no context, so I have no idea what you're venting about.

At any rate ... I liked the episode. Black Rose Dragon seemed a little weak at first ... low ATK for a Level 7 monster, and its ability destroys itself as well, but that ability that reduces an opponent's monster's ATK to zero is wicked. Go ahead, double that zero, Ransford.

Akiza is a stone-cold witch ... I don't know if she was keeping calm or if she's one of those emotionally maladjusted folks every anime has; the ones who simply have no emotions outside of, perhaps, condescention and cold anger. As Light Lucario says ... worst attempt at keeping a secret identity EVAR.

Speaking of Ransford, I would have found it more entertaining if his internal monologues had been in normal speech and only his dialogue was in faux dark-ages, making the fact that he was just affecting an accent and LARPing more obvious ... but it did make for a fun reveal at the end.

I don't think Zigzix's Ener-D detector is going to pick up anything worthwhile until two Signers square off.

As am I. She started out unedited but I'm pretty sure they airbrushed her a little in episode 16 just for consistency's sake I hope that she is not edited tomorrow. Unfortunately though she still has her "good at first but not so much now voice" still.

Akiza is win in my book after today's episode. I really enjoyed the duel and the comments by the crowd. Going back into Akiza's past was interesting to see.

I liked the throw back to GX as well. It seems that SliferRed produces all of the awesome duelists.

I can definitely understand that the accent could be seen as annoying. It did seem kind of odd when he first started talking. But like I said, I thought that it was funny and it made him a bit more interesting than just being an odd guy in a random suit of armor.

Yeah, Akiza's voice could have been deeper. I thought that it was a bit better when she was talking as the Black Rose. Though I don't think it's that bad either. Certainly not bad enough to say her character is ruined. This is technically Akiza's first appearance in the series and I could see Bella HuRABon improving as the series goes on. I remeraber some people, including myself, not really liking Jack's voice when he first appeared, but I think it grows on you. At least that was the case for me and I could see the same thing with Akiza's voice in the future.

I hope that I'm not bothering Dekacloud with this guess, but I think he was using a parody of "Brooklyn Rage" for that picture because he isn't happy with Akiza's voice in the recent episode. Considering that I've generally heard how she actually does something useful in the series, unlike most of the other female characters in other Yu-Gi-Oh! series, I can understand that. Of course, I also wouldn't have any kind of final judgment since voices can improve over the course of a series. But that's just me and my little guess there.

You do have a good point about Zigzix's Ener-D detector. Although, he was able to detect Luna's energy during Leo's duel in the last episode, thus pretty much confirming that she's a Signer, even though she hasn't dueled yet. If you're referring to Akiza, then I would agree that he won't detect anything from her until she duels another Signer.

man your positive. but having aki say "it's what you are on the outside but what you are on the inside" was very werid" she sounRAB like a brat

I thought that was the case since the uniforms looked really different. I guessed that it was either a different Duel Academy or they had changed the look of the uniforms completely. We did learn of other schools for dueling during that series anyway. Still, I thought that it was still a nice little reference to GX.

I thought that this was a pretty good episode. I knew that Goodwin would have Greiger taken away, but it was still kind of creepy with how he covered up the truth with all of those lines to the people. I was also surprised that Akiza was nervous to duel without her mask. She seemed to have no problems doing that the last time at all. At least her friend was able to help her out a bit. I also liked how we learned that she's psychic.

Man, Commander Koda was kind of annoying with how he was so determined to take away Akiza's powers. It was pretty cool to see that first bit of Akiza's past with how intense her duels were back then. I also didn't like how he thought that revenge and justice are the same thing when there's a fine line between the two of them. I also couldn't understand why he would call Akiza a cheater. She does have psychic powers, but I don't think that she uses them to win. She has her own skill for that as far as I can see. Though, I'm still wondering how her carRAB can come to life. A friend of mine thought that it could be a corabination of her powers as a psychic and as a Signer, which is a pretty good guess.

Even with all of the emotional pain she went through, Akiza just came out stronger in the end. She didn't want to hurt anyone through her powers. I felt really bad for her in the flasrabroadack with her and her parents in that fire and how she then had to go away to gain more control over her powers. Despite Koda being so focus on his research of her past, he really didn't take into account with how she is right now. I also didn't like how he wanted to get rid of her powers for good since Akiza was fine being what she is. Even so, he was putting up a good game.

I thought that it was so cool and intense when Akiza's hair fell down and she started glowing. When she summoned Black Rose Dragon, it was even cooler than I thought it would be. I loved how she was able to put Koda in his place and even said how he brought on this pain himself. Another impressive win for Akiza. I was surprised that her arm started glowing though. I didn't think that would happen unless she dueled another Signer. I guess that the way Koda reminded her of her past brought out more emotional stress for her. I knew that Yusei felt his arm hurting and I guess Luna too. I had a feeling that Yusei and Akiza would duel each other in this tournament. I agreed with Yusei that this duel could be his most dangerous one. The way Koda looked like after the duel proved that. That should be one really awesome duel.

Overall, it was a fun episode. I'm really liking how Akiza has such a strong deck and personality. A look into her past was really great too. Of course, seeing her win the duel was even cooler. As I said, I thought that Yusei and Akiza would face each other sooner or later. I'm sure that it will be a good duel. I'll be so looking foreword to seeing that episode next week.

Could Bella be deliberately tweaking her voice between portrying Akiza in and out of costume? Maybe it's intentional that the two have different voices.
