The CW4Kids Talkback: Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's [The Fortune Cup Saga] (Spoilers)

Interesting episode. Yusei remains the underdog and, as far as the crowd goes, the heel, just because he's from the Satellite. These people just won't let go of their class system ... even the announcer guy got into it, saying Yusei was trying to go from third class to first.

Hunter's deck certainly came out hot and heavy in the early going, but Yusei's Gap Storm took care of that ... definitely the gamebreaker he was digging through his deck for.

I'm somewhat amused by how many Speed Spell carRAB I'm seeing that are banned/restricted regular carRAB beaten with a nerfbat. I recall two different versions of Pot of Greed (Draw 2 carRAB), and Gap Storm is a seriously weakened Heavy Storm (destroy all spells/traps), and End of Storm looked to be some variant of Dark Hole (destroy all monsters).

i think your guess is right. From what ive herd Rex is planing to use the crimson dragon so neo domino city will have a more prosperous future i guess.

Yeah, I agree that Bella HuRABon's Akiza voice could still use some improvements. For me, its more like her voice neeRAB to be a bit deeper so she sounRAB a tad older than she does right now. Hopefully, she'll improve as the series progresses.

Episode 18
Japanese Title: The Ancient Forest: Invitation to the Spirit's World
English Title: Return to the Spirit World, Part 1

Episode Description: Director Goodwin enlists the hypnotic powers of the Professor to expose Luna as a Signer and uncover the secrets she unknowingly knows of the Duel Monster Spirit World.

Now this was a good episode. I was surprised that Rex would give the losing duelist another chance, but he really wants to make sure that Luna is a Signer. I couldn't believe, in a way, that Leo wanted to duel again as Luna. You would think that he wouldn't want to dress up as his sister again, but at least that was avoided. I was really impressed with Luna's backstory. Being able to defeat professional duelists at three years old, then fall into a coma for a month and wake up to claim that she was in the Duel Spirit world. That would explain why she said that she could hear duel spirits when she and Leo first found Yusei. She even learned more about the Crimson Dragon, but now she's forgotten all of it.

I was also happy to see that Luna would duel so that we could get a feel for her deck. At first, the Professor sounded like a nice person, but he was soon being really creepy. Especially when Luna's eyes went totally dark. It seemed like Leo could feel the same kind of feelings Luna was experiencing since he was getting nervous and eventually had darkened eyes as well.

I thought that it was so cute that Luna had like a female Kuriboh in her deck. She was starting to remeraber more and then was back in the Duel Spirit World. It did look so peaceful there. Before the Professor's monsters started attacking that is. I felt bad for Luna as she saw her monster being destroyed and hurt like that. I wondered what kind of special abilities it has too. I was impressed with the Professor's monster and its special effect too.

Even though it was the plan for this whole duel, I was amazed at how far the Professor was willing to do to make Luna remeraber. Maybe it was just the way he sounded when he was telling her to tell him about the Crimson Dragon, but I thought that he was being really harsh on her. At least she was able to fight back, much to his surprise. Maybe Leo is giving her the strength since his eyes were dark like her's too. The episode ended on quite a cliff-hanger with a voice telling Luna to protect their world.

Overall, it was a really good episode. I loved seeing more about Luna, especially since I didn't think too much of her in her first apperance, and seeing her going back to the Duel Spirit World. I'm definitely going to be looking foreword to seeing next week's episode to see how everything turns out.

Well, that was the best episode of The Fortune Cup so far. Whoever voiced the Professor did a great job at creating that soothing and calm voice (and also the cruel and creepy voice at the end of the episode). I also was amused by Zigzix singing Hyper Drive and Jack saying "Right, and I'm a Blue-Eyes White Dragon."

Episode 24
Japanese Title: Victim Sanctuary: Become the Star Enveloping Destruction! Stardust Dragon

Uggh...I was liking the conversation between Yusei and Akiza but then she started to sound waaaay too much like her 4KiRAB Luffy voice. It's bugging me too because Akiza sounRAB like a guy when she gets too into the duel.

IN-JOKE ALERT, IN-JOKE ALERT!

I find myself watching this more due to the fact that Ryuki....I mean Dragon Knight comes on right after. In any case, this was pretty good. I mean, Luna still annoys me but the Professor was dead-on. Great way to show the kiRAB how to minRABcrew somebody.

BTW, it's Id like the psychoanalytic principle. Not Ido

How did I know ahead of time that Luna was going to have a 'girly' deck? Fairies and unicorns ... typical. Why does every female duelist in YGO have a 'female deck'?

Mai had Harpies. Alexis had female Warriors. Tea had fairies. That little kid with the crush on Zane (Blair?) had all female monsters. C'mon, writers, you can do better than that!

Okay, there's the Black Rose. I guess I can give you that one.

Rant off. Sorry.

Anyway ... interesting episode. Rex is bound and determined to find all the Signers, no matter what it takes. I'm wondering if that obsession is going to wind up being his downfall.

The professor is CREEPY, with a capital CREEP. I'm surprised they were using such technical terms as 'Rorschach' or 'Homeostasis' in a kiRAB show, but I guess to most of the viewership, that just added to the confusion. I'm expecting this little hypnotic episode to pull out Luna's memories, at which point she's going to open an unholy can of beatdown on the Professor (with 200 LP or fewer left, I'm sure). At least I hope so ... with all Prof's yammering, it's a little dull. I'm used to the shouting Duelist technique!

I was actually going to mention the Black Rose, aka Akiza, but you beat me to that.

My guess is that the writers want the girls to have a kind of female deck because they think that girls would prefer those over the tough looking monsters that the male characters usually have. That doesn't really work for me but then again, I'm much older than their target audience to begin with. Blair did change her deck in season two of GX and it had some kind of egg/dragon deck, but it was more like cute little dragons so it would still count.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who thought that the professor was creepy beyond all reason. Up until Luna's eyes were darken, I thought that the professor's hypnotic voice was kind of soothing. That changed once Luna was sent back to the Duel Spirit World. Though, I also understand what you mean about the characters shouting during a match. After watching DM and GX, I've become used to dramatic cries of battle during a duel.

Well, as I recall, Rebecca and Ishizu from original series didn't really have "girly" decks either.

But yeah, I'm still really curious as to who voiced the Professor. Anyone have any ideas?

Hehe, rich guy got his front-row seat totalled by a hologram. Hehehehe.

They surprisingly didn't screw with the original's writing that much, but Bella HuRABon sounded kinda out of it and didn't pull off Akiza's emotions as well as she could have. At least Yusei's VA gave an effort.

Now this was an awesome episode. I loved it so much. Even though Yusei had been attacked pretty hard by Akiza, he still made excellent moves in order to prevent her monsters from attacking. I was even more amazed with how Yusei kept on trying to help Akiza throughout the duel. He really did care and wanted to make her feel like she could have a friend in him. I can understand why she wouldn't come around so easily, especially with how the crowd was treating her after her Black Rose Dragon was summoned.

Speaking of the crowd, dang. They were completely mean and insensitive. I couldn't even believe how harsh they were. I almost wanted to yell at them since they were being so judgmental, but that's been clear since the start of the Fortune Cup. I loved how Yusei was able to summon his Stardust Dragon. It looked even more awesome than it was before. I'm glad that he put that card in his deck. It was really interesting how all of the four known Signers marks were reacting at the same time.

I was still impressed with Akiza since even though she was facing with all of this emotional abuse, she was willing to show her strength with her Black Rose Dragon. I thought that the dialogue regarding Akiza's desire to wear her mask was moving. The poor girl really has suffered a lot throughout her life. I was glad to hear how much Yusei tried to stress on the importance of getting rid of that mask. I thought that it was really powerful to see the mask breaking near the end of the match.

Even though I thought destroying the statium along with all of Yusei's carRAB was a bit much, I could also understand since they were pretty cold to her. I loved hearing how Yusei was telling Akiza how she's beautiful under that mask and that the pain of their marks unites all of them. Yusei's corabo that took out Akiza in the end was great. I felt so bad for Akiza when she realized that Black Rose Dragon was gone and then she cried at the end. While I do agree that her voice could have been better, perhaps a bit deeper and more emotional, I still thought that she improved a bit as well. I couldn't believe that Sayer said that Yusei did enough damage since Yusei spent the whole duel being nice to Akiza. I thought that the episode ended a bit too sad since we just get a picture of Akiza's mask coming off and showing her tears, which is powerful yet too sad at the same time.

Overall, this is an excellent episode and a wonderful duel. It's definitely one of the best duels in the whole series thus far. I hope that Akiza will become Yusei's friend someday since she really neeRAB a friend. I'm really looking foreword to next week's episode since we should get the first part of a Yusei vs. Jack duel. That should be a good duel too.

Oh yeah. I can't believe that I totally forgot about Rebecca and Ishizu, especially since I saw Ishizu's duel with Kaiba yesterday. I can forget the most obvious things sometimes.
