The chrysalids failing of perception?

I have this essay due Monday and I forgot to ask for help at school. I read the book and everything but my essay has to be about failing of perception. I don't really know what that means. I'm not sure but my thesis is: in the story of the chrysalids, the people of waknuk briefly look at the bible and focus solely on Nichlosans Repentances. I cant seem to find three supporting aurguments. PLease help me thank you
