Count me in as one who is more interested in the premise than Ashton Kutcher... But who doesn't mind some Amy Smart

The premise is basically "time travel without the machine" which is VERY cool.

OT - Re: Ashton...

I think Ahston comes off as that kid you knew in High School who as a goof off, had good looks and who you KNEW really didn't have to work for anything in his life and things just turned out fine for him.

What I don't think people like about him is that he comes off as that guy I just described above... But in a bad way to where he's almost flaunting it as well. Which can be viewed as arrogance. Oh, well. I don't really care, but I know what you guys mean when there is just "something" about him that turns me "off" to him as well.

Anyway, interesting premise and for those who haven't been to LOTR:ROTK, here's the full trailer we're all talking about:

Okay. I rented it today and have only seen the first half hour or so. I had to stop it cause I had to go out so that's all I've seen at the moment. From the parts that I saw, the only Ashton I saw was the part at the beginning, where he's hiding under the desk. The rest was just flashbacks.

I take it it gets better as it goes along, but for the parts that I saw I was just left feeling confused. I mean, the way that blonde kid went phsyco just because Evan kissed his sister (?? was it his sister??) was just weird. I saw up to the part where Evan, the girl, and the other boy go into the bush and find the phsyco kid about to kill the dog, and how he punches his sister (??) and burnt Evan's face. I stopped it then, but I found the whole thing just weird. I'm not sure if I should continue to watch it. Does it get better as it goes along? Or should I not waste my time?

The Butterfly Effect is one of my favourite films :D I like Physcological Thrillers.

Well, I haven't seen the movie in its entirety, but I walked in for about 15 minutes during my break. And yes, there were people laughing, and it -did- seem like those parts were pretty comedic. Or maybe it's just Ashton and people are so used to him in comedies that he just comes off as funny no matter what he does?

The part I walked in on was the alternate reality scene which was pretty amusing. Not my cup of tea, but people seemed to enjoy it. I did hear someone leaving the theater say that the end was pretty... well, if I say it I feel like I would ruin it.

Who knows? Maybe people will end up liking it? I haven't read other critics' reviews yet, not that I entirely trust them, but they can say it a lot better than I could. I had to ignore my huge anti-Ashton sentiments, but for the record, I say if you want to go see it, see it. Especially if you're a fan of this guy. He does show -A LOT- of skin in this movie

I am a big fan of psychological thrillers, so I will be in line waiting to see this movie. Plus it is nice to see Ashton Kutcher playing a serious role for a change, and I like Amy Smart she is a good actress.
 
I actually had to watch this move a couple of times before I really got it.

I didn't even like it the first time I saw it....but once I understood it, I liked it more...:D

I loved the movie, saw it 3 times. It's hard to believe that Ashton can act. I thought it would be a joke but I saw it for him. I loved the movie. It was well acted and different
 
I guess I'm in the minority, I thought the theatrical ending was lame and unoriginal, and I can see why the directors wanted their version of the ending. Yes, it was depressing, but it got the point across better.

I was also rather impressed with Ashton Kutcher, as I'm no fan of his by ANY means.
 
Actually thoses questions you just asked I was confused about too. I didnt understand why he had a knife in the beginning as well as the picture he drew.
 
i snaged it already thanks but this was one kick ass movie im shocked there arent more....
 
You know what I didn't understand? Why didn't Evan go back to the basement and tell Evil Daddy to be good to both his kids? I mean, I know that Kaylee stayed for him, but she turned out good when he was good to her.

I don't know. Did anyone think about this?
 
I just rented this movie. I def loved it. It makes you think. I have a question. The father had the blackouts like Evan and could go back in time but why was he in that hospital? Did he go crazy from trying to go back into time or did he go back in time and mess it up like Ashton's character did a few times? Also, there were a couple scenes I was confused about. Why did his character draw that awful picture in the beginning and why was he holding that knife right before he went to Kayleighs house in the beginning?
I think Ashton did a great job in this. I was very impressed!
Does anyone know how much money this movie made in the theaters?
 
I saw the trailer when watching LOTR too. It looks pretty good and I don't think it'd be a problem for Ashton to do a serious role. I guess people are just more used to seeing him in a comedic role. Oh well, we'll see if he's good at drama or not. Apparently, this movie is also in Sundance Film Festival.

Yeah thats I think too, that they the one that its seems like the movie was trying to say happened.... Was also thinking some moments he blocked out could have been blacked out because they were tramatic, because thats what the brain does sometime in moments of trama..... But I think there was something more there,
 
It's like when he blanked out...he was blanking out because he went back in time and did what he had to to fix time.

he didn't remember the stuff that he went back and did.

I liked both the director and Threater verison but the Threater one was a much happier version.
