No way would i throw him out of bed lol, love him in all his films and admit to having a picture of him on my bedroom wall on a Harley D (same bike as mine) so every morning when i wake up i can say i wake up next to Matt Dillon :D

Prefer his early stuff but really liked him in Theres Something About Mary, played good character then lol

Also got a thing for Christian Slater mmmmmmmm

I agree. Don't think i've ever seen a bad Cusack movie.

The Outsiders. A classic. In that Brat Pack Confidential book i mentioned earlier in the thread it actually defines The Outsiders as being the first Brat Pack movie.

I reckon you should be able to get a European region 2 version of The Outsiders off ebay as that's where i usually have the most luck in finding old movies not available on dvd in the UK (Fast Times At Ridgemont High, The Explorers, License To Drive etc) on region 2. Really suprised that's not out on dvd in the UK, though, since it's a critically aclaimed Coppola movie and since Rumble Fish is out on dvd here.

Speaking of Rumble Fish, i'm embarrassed to admit i've never seen it even though i've got a vhs copy of it bought for me by an ex which i've had for over 10 years now. Might go dig that out and watch it this afternoon since it's a damp miserable day and i've got nothing planned until this evening.
 
So, what 80's movies are we gonna discuss today?

I say we start with Labyrinth. 5 great things about Labyrith :

1. Sir Didymus the courageous tallyho-ing fox-dog hybrid with a poor sense of smell who guarRAB the bog of eternal stench and who uses a sheepdog called Ambrosius as his means of transport.

2. Bowie having the sense of humour to take on the role of Jareth. Would his contemporaries like Jagger or Iggy Pop or Lou Reed have ever agreed to take part in a Jim Henson movie where they were to play an evil king with a mullet and a tail who regularly breaks into song with puppet goblins?

3. The sets. They'd probably just use CGI or a couple of alleyways in Vancouver nowadays but the elaborate labyrinth, the underground tunnels, the bog of eternal stench, the forest, the village and the castle all look amazing.

4. Jennifer Connelly. I'd only just begun to realise that girls weren't disgusting creatures that you should chase with worms when Labyrinth came out, thus Jennifer Connelly was one of my first childhood crushes and she's only gotten better with time. The less said about the double-ended end scene in Requiem For A Dream the better, though.

5. So many great characters : Hoggle, Ludo, The Wisemen, the 2 door knockers, the Fireys (they're the ones who live in the forest and have detachable limbs), the faces in the rock of the Labyrinth wall, Humungous the guardian robot.

Best kiRAB movie of the decade.

I watched Some Kind of Wonderful this afternoon & I'm ashamed to say that dementia has clearly set in :o. I realised when I was singing along (& remembering all the worRAB) that I used to have the soundtrack (probably on cassette cos god knows where that's gone!) & it all came flooding back to me!:D Yes I remember it & I loved it :D

Bless, he has definitely still got it! Seems to have been around forever (or maybe that's just my age:o) Christian Slater = Heathers & Pump up the Volume, then disappeared for me I'm afraid.

And I like Rumblefish MF, worth a watch!
