The Breakfast Club

love all the films mentioned on here....breakfast club is legendary and pretty in pink follows close behind!
i just love some kind of wonderful as well - like a reverse pretty in pink!
and is it just me or is the scene where watts is teaching keith to kiss in the garage one of the sexiest film scenes ever?! :o

I still can't believe I forgot I used to have the soundtrack tho - very worrying!:o

LMAO!! I was a Toyah fan - think of some of the horrors I could've recreated!! I then mellowed and was a Duranie (never into Spandau or Wham really). Goodness! The Adam Ant stripe takes me back! I mentioned to someone on here about it a while ago & they didn't know what I was talking about :D:o And please no to the mullet!

This is a good point. I think the movies/music/tv shows which mean the most to me are the ones i was exposed to as a kid and a teenager. I'm kind've a movie buff and i love flicks by Kubrick, Hitchcock, Scorsese, Leone, Coen Brothers and loaRAB of old Hollywood movies from the 30s onwarRAB etc but, truthfully, the movies i enjoy the most which i can rewatch and never become bored of are the ones i saw as a youngster like the Star Wars trilogy, Rocky 4, Labyrinth, Stand By Me, Brat Pack flicks, Spaceballs, The Lost Boys, License To Drive, Trading Places, Coming To America, The Burbs, Die Hard 1 + 2, Heathers, Beetlejuice, Batman, Scrooged, Groundhog Day and so on.

I guess it's the stuff you were exposed to during your formative years which has the most impact on you.

Nostalgia and personal experiences biasing judgement aside, the 80s/early 90s was an absolutely fantastic era for movies, though, as all those movies still rule.

Is that Eric Stoltz & Lea Thompson? *runs off to imdb to find out*

Edit : Yep it is the one I thought of. TBH I can't really remember it - what I can remember is that I think I liked it (does that make sense?! - I don't have a violent reaction when I think of it - more a sweet Benny & Joon feeling!). I may have to watch it again to give you a definitive answer tho! :) Why? Do you like it (or do you really hate it!)?

And find of the day goes to TFC!! I googled it & didn't come up with the co.uk site! Hmmm, might have to have a little purchase myself - this thread has started me thinking of all sorts of old films I haven't seen for years.......

No, no - i love it. It's just slightly underrated as far as Hughes movies go, possibly because it doesn't star any of the big name Brat Packers like Ringwald, Estevez, Sheedy, Nelson, Lowe etc.

Definately worth a re-watch since you can pick it up for

i am 20 and i first watched this film 3 years ago after my sister nagged me to watch it! it is soooo good! i laughed all the way through. Some of it is funny when its not supposed to be for instance when andrew does his i hate my dad speech and the cringe worthy bit at the end when alison gets normalised lol its definitly in the top 5 of 80s movies.

I love this! They sure don't make them like this anymore. This film captures youth perfectly. St Elmo's fire is also brilliant!

Ohh, Heathers - another favourite (all tho a lot later!) and the Lost Boys....and Labyrinth - all of which I have on dvd & watch quite regularly! Love Star Wars trilogy too. The only films I can watch over & over that are more recent I've already mentioned. (I have a few others but they're not being aired on here!:D)

Maybe in a few years we'll be able to pick more classics out - altho I bet the BratPack ones will still be up there!:D
