Saw it this afternoon and, oh dear me no.
Adapted from a short story, that was made into a Twilight Zone episode in the 80's, the movie tries to be a supernatural thriller, a sci-fi mystery and emotional tearjerker all at the same time.
First act, 45 mins or so were OK, I quite enjoyed it.
Then it got very confusing, was very slow at times, had a terrible heavy handed musical score, and really felt like a bad 1950's B movie.
The acting was OK but to be honest the second half of the films screenplay is so muddled the actors can't be held liable for the films problems. It got so bad it started to feel more like a M. Night Shyamalan film (his more terrible recent works) than from the guy who gave us the wonderful Donnie Darko.
I think some people will walk out when they see it, especially if they don't have any loyalty to the director Richard Kelly's previous work.
It does feel like a Twilight Zone episode, which I think is the intention with its creepy music and supernatural stroyline, but an overlong episode and rather pointless one.
