The Bottom 10: WORST Films of 2007

Pirates 3. Worst than 2.

I quite liked Bourne but I think you had to just sit back and let it happen and not try to follow the plot too closely at the start.
It all sort of makes sense by the time you are half way through.

Telling other people how they should feel about something is not an "opinion", its arrogance and super-inflated ego, who is he/you to tell one film maker they "should feel embarrased" and the next they "should feel ashamed" of their hard work (which many, I'll add, thoroughly enjoyed). His opinion is just that, his own pointless opinion which affects no one but him and his little world, to suggest hollywood producers should feel a certain way because of his over-inflated self importance is ridiculous in the extreme!! :o:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I generally don't see rubbish films at the cinema, but the only film that i did see that was rubbish this year was:

Hostel: Part 2

Utter shite (imo). Eli Roth is a talentless film maker (Cabin Fever and Hostel 1 were pathetic too, and CF is probably one of the worst films that i've ever seen), and the sooner the public get over 'Gorno' the better.

Oh dear... I don't think you entirely understand what I was saying.

The film makers/performers in question all have a classic body of work behind them, and made what is (in my opinon - although I'm now tempted to say "fact" just to see what reaction I'd get) some embarassingly bad tosh in these two examples.

Still, if Messrs Raimi, Pegg and Schwimmer* do happen across this forum (oh, how the inner-fanboy wishes for that), and pick me up on my comments about them, (which was until that point a hypthothical conversation with them), I'll attempt to justify (with examples and diagrams) as to why I feel they should regret their pitiful performances on these projects when consumers of their previous products have come to expect so much better.

Until then, I stand by my comments.

As you were, Mr Knight77.

(*If your, frankly suprising, levels of indignation implies you are any of the above - just wanted to say "I loved your work in Spider-Man 1 & 2/Spaced and Hot Fuzz/FrienRAB - more of that, less of this please BBC")

EDIT: Yes it is. IMO the films are bad - ergo IMO the otherwise excellent film-makers/performers should (logically speaking) be ashamed of themselves for what they made. It's cause on effect based on a thoroughly subjective analysis of these two godawful films. It's true - so painfully true. I'd imagine none of my disappointment over the bloated mess that was Spidey 3 would make Mr Raimi cry over his $151 mllion dollars.

Still, I will attempt to have more life-changing opinons on a movie forum in future.

Cheers. :)

Took my kiRAB to the cinema a lot this year and Spiderman 3 and POTC 3 have my vote- especially Pirates. Couldn't remember what had happened in 2 so had no idea what was going on, what was all the stuff about Johnny Depp in a boat in the middle of the desert surrounded by other Johnny Depps and I kept thinking it was going to finish when another pointless character would turn up. My other low point on the cinema was watching Bourne Ulltimatum- unbeknown to me at the time I was going down with campylobacter food poisoning and the shaky camera work was not pleasant!

Pirates of the Caribbean 3 - Such a shame after the first two. It was long, boring, confusing and pointless.

Spiderman 3 - Again, what a load of rubbish!

Shrek 3 - Major dissapointment..

It's all the end of the trilogies for me :p

Ive enjoyed reading this thread

28 weeks later wasnt completely terrible - but not great. and i feel the original didnt need a sequal. its certainly a film i will never watch again.

shrek 3 was better then shrek 2 (didnt enjoy that at all) - but still - i really enjoyed the original very much and is very disappointing to see all these crap sequals and spin off tv films being churned out. again - one i'll never watch again.

spiderman 3 - it was better then i expected - but all reviews pointed to it being on a x-men 3 level - and the first 2 were very good. i enjoyed the film to a point but it could have been much better and not on the same level as the other 2 - it feels they have just churned this movie out from some rotten meat crinder for lots of dosh. actually, the whole film has a differnt "feel" to the other 2 (like xmen 3 was). it feels more like they have a different director (like x-men 3 did). danny elfman wasnt interested in being part of it - i beleive - so the music was different. but, the whole time, sam raini (sp) did actually direct it! you'd expect much better. sorry - i really never got over how bad x-men 3 was from last year (or was it the year before?)!!!

but my worst film of the year has to be....
Pirates 3.
it was bloody awful. i enjoyed the original in 2003 very much. it was rightly paced. it was nicely characterised. it was nicely timed. it was nicely everything. it made a hell of a load of money so it was a case of waiting around for the inevitable sequal. i was looking forward to these back-to-back story sequals when news came out about them. but what came out in the form of pirates 2 was just shite. i didnt like it at all. i didnt even like the way the story was set up and was headed and where it was going. i went to see pirates 3 with low expectations - but never expected it to be THAT bad. it went on for hours - and i never cared who died next. what a disappointment both sequals where to such a wonderful movie.:( and some people have mentioned MORE movies will follow. oh bum.

Worst movie of 2007 - Atonement without a doubt. I don't get what the Oscar hype is all about. This movie was dreadful. I knew it wasn't going to be a happy, cheery film, but the acting was dire. When the actors were meant to be having a conversation it seemed to me that they were just in the same room saying vaguely connected statements. I fell asleep in the cinema watching this. I only went coz my mate said she was desperate to see it.

AVOID!!!!!

I agree with that, I loved Pirates 1 & 2 but 3 was so dull in places. Too many long, boring sequences which should have been cut down.

Spiderman 3 was also REALLY bad. They tried to cram in too much and most of it didn't make sense.

TBh I'm surprised no-one has mentioned 30 Days of Night yet  Whoever made this god-awful excuse for a film neeRAB to be shot. I mean RAB, what kind of ending is that. It's worse than the ending to I am Legend (an otherwise fantastic film). There's no plot, the vampires aren't scary, there's no plot, the acting was nothing special and there was no plot.

Apart from that, Shrek 3 was a massive dissapointment after the first 2 films. It was just too...random (and as a Boosh fan, you won't hear me saying that too often ;))

I can't see why everyone is slating POTC:3; I thought it was a good film. Granted it wasn't as good the first one (the best one imo), but I don't think it deserves the criticism it's been getting. The scene with Jack stuck in the locker cammanding a ship of other Jack's was hilarious I thought :)

Superbad: Seriously I dont get what's funny about this film? It's just all crappy crude humor, and it's not I don't like that style of humor becuase I do (see: Dumb and Dumber for a decent crude film). The day it becomes funny is the day Kemit the Frog gets it on with Miss Piggy live on TV. (aka. Never)

And I also agree with chavmusiksux about 30 days of Night.

I usually manage to stay away from the movies that are obviously shitty (See: Click)
But these got past me

Spiderman 3
Pirates 3
Smoking Aces
Resident Evil: Extinction (Ok I figured this would be bad but i enjoy mindless action films on occasion. Sadly this barely had any action)

From what I have seen this year ..

I am legend - Awful.

Spiderman III - Snoozefest.

The Bourne Ultimatum - I enjoyed the first two films, but this one wasn't no where near as good. Major disappointment.

My friend made me watch the newish film Balls of Fury had never heard of it before but i have to say it is the most stupid film that i have seen in a long, long, long time

So the filmmakers vision of what the film should be like, isn't placing their feelings and emotions on the audience? As for seeing films I do like, there have been very very few film over the last 5 years that have held any special meaning to me. Most are rehashes of tired plots (Transformers) or dragging on a franchise for the sake of money (HP, Spiderman & Pirates). If you find these film exciting and outstanding, then it seems the film makers have done their job. There are some of us that like to engage with the film, perhaps think about the plot or be entertained by witty intelligent script. Not all of us can switch off our brain and watch the bright lights, loud noises and go 'WOW!' at the whizz bangs

I enjoyed Spiderman 3, it was good fun (though not as good as 1 or 2) but the Sandman subplot was utter bollocks. We never see Sandman do anything good for his daughter, if the kid was really as sick as he said she was, why couldnt the family get help?

..............

Harry Potter 5 - Overlong, boring in places and felt like a placeholder for film No.6 too.
