The Amazing World Of Gumball – News & Discussion Thread

To be precise, it makes me think a little of Parappa in terms of the character designs.

I honestly can't wait for this. Out of curiosity, Huntsman, how's the soundtrack?

It scored big ratings with its' target age demo, it's got international support, so we know it won't share the same fate as Robotomy, a second season has already been ordered and it's already going to start airing weekday mornings. If that's not indicative that CN regards this show as a hit, then I don't know what is.

The Amazing World Of Gumball – News & Discussion Thread

I am hoping that Cartoon Network will start to promote the series before much longer. They only started advertising Problem Solverz a week before its premiere, but The Looney Tunes Show is already being advertised over a month before it premieres. It doesn?t look like they?re in a hurry to promote Gumball, but I would be happy with ? at least ? two weeks of promotion. I?m concerned on a number of levels. Its second season was primarily a European decision. I?m still not sure how dedicated our Cartoon Network is to its success; the after party and the upfront were good signs, but the 7:30 PM timeslot has me weary. I don?t think most people even tune in until 8:00 PM, so Gumball has a difficult road ahead of it. At least the editor of mipblog thinks that the series will be a huge success, but he started that article by saying he?s not very good at predicting things? and then goes on to say, essentially, that he?s seen less of the series than I have. Why make a prediction at all under such circumstances? I know the author of that blog has more experience than he gives on, being the editor of the official blog for MIPCOM and its related events, so hopefully his prediction turns out to be true.

Considering both MAD and Regular Show only had less than a month of promotion and still did well, I'm sure they'll be able to put in the right amount of ads (and while Problem Solverz was only advertised a few weeks before the premiere, ads for the show are everywhere so I guess that evens it out). While we usually don't get the ratings for 7pm, Scooby-Doo and Johnny Test usually do really well at that hour, sometimes getting higher numbers than Adventure Time.

These are the voice actors, at least for Gumball and his family. Frankly, I’ve never heard of these people before this series. Granted, only the three children are voiced by US talent, with the rest of the characters being voiced by talent from the UK, but it’s still unusual for them to cast three non-traditional voice actors. I think it will turn out alright, as based on what little I’ve seen, the children sound solid. I hope that Cartoon Network will get the site up soon.

They've done this type of thing before. Like when the Ben 10: Ultimate Alien S2 premiere was gonna air they showed a preview for the episode the following week. I'm gonna trust CN's schedule on this one.

I hope it's still the Ghost next week. I just gonna know why Carrie takes over Gumball's body, I mean what doe's she want with the poor little guy?

Which is why I think that McDonalds used a different episode for the sneak peek instead because they probably didn't feel right with showing something that they fear will rub little kids that way.

The description your talking about can be found anywhere.

@NovelleX All righty, then.
The Kiss has the potential to be another weak episode, so its a good thing I could watch it in a month or so.The Ghost had better be good, though.

I think this show is pretty decent, with the only thing holding it back really is the rediculously stereotypical "dumb dad, smart mom" thing. Except here's it's taken to an even worse level where the dad is basically a kid in an adult's body that is dumber than his own children or their classmates.

I really liek the mixing of art styles with the charachters, and most of the stories are enjoyable, but I just wish they didn`t have to rely on such a tired and overused trope for the dad. I'd rather he be away on business all the time then be like how he is.

I have only seen a couple of the episodes but I think this shows is pretty good and I will keep watching. I really like the art style and the characters are really lovable.

Awwww no new episode on July 4th? And July 11th is The Mystery, which most of have already seen.
So no new episodes for at least three weeks... Blaaaah.

Oh, and when I first heard of this show, I thought it was going to be a super hero family. I have no idea what made me believe that.

I really have to admit that I'm enjoying Gumball a whole lot more than I expected to, I went into the series with very low expectations and I've now seen about 4 episodes in total and I can honestly say that I'm very impressed by it. The show is witty, funny, cute, and abstract all at the same time and the characters (especially the main character) are instantly likable, this show has certainly been a pleasent surprise for me and I plan on keeping up with it in premieres as well as reruns and hopefully it enjoys a nice long life on Cartoon Network.
