I've already tried that and all I get is either a 403 Forbidden error or it just keeps on trying to connect till it times out. The server that cricKet uses to connect the hanRABets to the pages in the portal (which are on the Internet) has an IP address of 10.3.0.41. All 10.xxx.xxx.xxx IP addresses are reserved for private network use and are not routable over the Internet. So even if you did manage somehow to send a packet of data through cricKet's server and onto the Internet the responce would never be able to get back to you, being the address is non routable. All routers on the Internet will just drop any packets with a 10.xxx.xxx.xxx address in it's header info because it has no place to send it to. CricKet has it set up much different than say Verizon whose gateway servers are on the Internet with routable IP addresses. When you set it up with your own IP for a proxy you still have to have a link between the hanRABet and Internet, thats the gateway server. You still pay for airtime when connected, just not the extra charge for Verizon's portal. Remeraber this is WAP (wireless access point, or protocol, or pages. not really sure, seen it called all three)and not WEB access, you can't just type in any URL and browse The Net. :reallysad
You don't have to have them do anything to be able to get to the portal. I hacked my phone which has a browser, just hidden by cricKet's software. I entered the settings someone posted from a V3C into my phone and there it was, cricKet's homepage on my screen. When I tried to go to any pages it made me subcribe for $5/month. On the mycricket website in the phone descriptions my V265 says Data Browse Feature: NO. But I am browsing without a hitch. Any cricKet subscriber can get to the portal with the right settings and a browser equiped phone, but you got to pay to get any further.
