The All About Cricket Mobile Web Thread

What service was your V710 with originally? My V710 was a Quest flashed over to Verizon, then put on Cricket (bought on ebay). I've been able to get the *228 to work finally, but can't get the Browser or MMS to connect.

Any chance of a data exchange? I'm just about ready to give up on the browser/MMS and flash it to Telus to get the Java.

How fast is 1xrtt? I am unfamiliar with this I have been using tmobile for like 6 yrs and I am considering getting cricket. I want to get an LG VX9800 and flash it over but being new little worried about it.

no no... what i meant is that cricket will only turn the data option on the plan on if you tell them you have a razr(i think). this has nothing to do with the flash or the actually programming of the phone, just how the account is set up to get the data option.

He is right on that part of it, My V265 was accessing the portal without a hitch, till my billing cycle hit. Now it tells me I need to subscribe to access anything and there are no subscriptions available at this time.!!! WTF  Called CS and they say it is because my phone is not compatable. NOT COMPATABLE???? Typical scripted responce. I say "there's no way to enable the option manually?" Again I get a typical "no, I'm sorry...." responce. But it WAS working, so there must be a way. Knowing someone who works there would help right now. Need to get them to change my phones description to a V3C to make it work again, but how? :help:

my v710 was verizon before put on cricket and the mms works fine untill i put the telus flash on then the mms didnt work you have to there are several files i write to the phone in pst and the web always works fine im http://homepage is not working you can go to crickets website and txt http://www.google.com to your self and read your new txt and go to menu and then click on goto and it will get you out of crickets stupid portal. after i do a file update after a flash i do a *228............... some of the settings can be found here http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=935416&highlight=cricket+wap

I'm considering getting cricket exclusively for the cheap mobile web plan they have, but I don't quite understand exactly what it is. People in this thread mention that you are restricted to the cricket web portal, and you can't just browse any WAP website.

If you are restricted to this "portal" then why would anyone pay for it? What exactly do they have in the portal?

I have a specific work related site that I need to access while I'm on the go, thats why I ask these questions.

There is a workaround to be able to view MOST websites... you just have to access through the google mobile portal. As of now, I've found VERY few sites I can't access as long as I find them through google.

The main place I think problems occur are any application that accesses the web directly, such as a GPS program (the ones that stream their maps.. any with downloaded maps should work fine), or online poker games, etc... If you access them through a browser, you should be able to access most sites by using the google search.

So you can't access any WAP pages like wap.freeringers.net ? does anyone know of a way to get to one of these sites through a google search? and how come when you do a google search and select the new google mobile search every result is 403ed?

I have a slvr L7c with Cricket, pay the extra $5 every month and get 403's every time I turn around. Even going thru Google. It's very frustrating and customer service is almost as helpful as asking the cat. Other than that, I love the phone.
