The Actor Who Never Made A Bad Movie

I want to say Robert De Niro but I know he has had a few considerable films that could be thrown out there.

Im definitely going with Leonard Dicaprio. Cant recall a bad movie hes ever done

Oh I totally understand that. I love things that I know have a lot of faults in them sometimes as well. And it's hard not to be swept up with DDL.

And dude, some of them have done some awful stuff that I tried to block out of my memory. It's like reliving a nightmare for certain actors.

Oh gosh. I try not to think about that awful movie. My poor love Hugh Laurie was terribly cast and I still am not sure why he thought that was the movie to do. Poor Hugh.

LOL. I tried doing this, but couldn't come up with a single actor or actress, unless they're new or have only done one movie & it was a hit. but established, great actors... couldn't find a single one. almost every single one of them had a flop or a movie I hated somewhere... usually in their early career. look at my love Leo DiCaprio, he's an amazing actor, but he had some craaaapy movies his early days.

now, there are some actors that to me that have never made a bad movie, because I haven't seen all of their movies. Ben Affleck. Matt Damon as well... except I HATED The Good Shepherd, even if it went over well. Mark Wahlberg... if I hadn't just seen The Happening, and haven't seen his early movies. oh, Joaquin Pheonix, but again I haven't seen his early movies.

actresses, Reese Witherspoon. but I haven't seen her early movies.

oh, Morgan Freeman! but AGAIN, haven't seen quite a few. I could probably name ten here, that I think have never made a bad movie because I haven't seen them all, and I'm not just going on what the critics said... critics can be completely opposite of my opinions.

so basically, I won't be able to come up with a single one... they've all either had a bad movie, or I haven't seen all of their movies.

i think leonardo dicaprio.. i havent seen one more that hes done that i havent liked.. also matt damon!

My words, MaxPax13!

I would like to add Clive Owen... But he has one bad movie - Lorna Doone. :|
What about Ewan McGregor? I've never seen he in really bad movie, but I've seen a lot of great movies with him. :D

Seth got canned for Idle HAnds, which i liked,.... but it was pointed out that i liked it only because of the hotness that is Jessica Alba.

how about ryan gosling? i really enjoyed stay and united states of leland. i don't know what to consider murder by numbers; i think the storyline was amazing even if the result wasn't all that great.

and gael garcia bernal starred in "vidas privadas" (an argentinian movie) which was dreadful.

Interesting. The first name that came to mind was Daniel Day-Lewis, partly because I had read article a few years ago where the journalist claimed that, while he'd been a few questionable movies, he'd never made an outright bad film. I tend to agree. Stars & Bars and Eversmile, New Jersey were two small films that didn't receive rave reviews but had something redeemable about them. If you go through his filmography it's hard to deny he knows how to pick a project...or perhaps his performance saves a film from being a complete disaster (as some would say was true for Gangs of New York): The Age of Innocence, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, My Left Foot, My Beautiful Laundrette, Last of the Mohicans, In the Name of the Father, The Boxer. All at least good films, if not great.

I think the reason why almost all actors have at the very least one bad movie on their resume is that they either weren't on the A-list and were forced to take what they could get to pay the bills, their main appeal to studios and directors is their box office draw (*cough*JuliaRoberts*) so they must keep their face on the screen even if it is in a ****e film, or they just wanted to try something different and it didn't necessarily work.

Colin Farrell? I would classify Alexander (I so wanted it to be good) and American Outlaws as being bad. The Recruit wasn't horrible but it wasn't good either.

James Dean is a definate. Yeah, there were only 3 but the fact that all of them weren't just good but brilliant makes up for the skimpy filmography

The way to win this is if an actor made a few movie and quit the business or died.

My vote would have to go to James Dean.

Jim Carrey - The Cable Guy

I almost picked up Eternal uh Sunshine in the whatever movie, it was only $5 and Kirsten is in it, but How High won out.

James Dean would get my vote--but he was only in 3 movies.

As for current actors I would say Johnny and Leo are probably the closest ones to actually pulling off the title of this thread.

As for actresses---Kate Winslet is perfect in my eyes.

Oh I agree, Edward is off the list. I just go with my general consensus that it wasn't a bad movie.

And Kirsten was in Elizabethtown which was quite lame.

No one is safe!

You're right. Normally an actor's first movie is bad because it's their first role and they are just looking for work. It's a rare case where their first movie is good (that normally happens with child actors, they luck into a good first role).

I love, love, love Kevin! Se7en is one of my most favorite films because he is so fantastic, but he was in Fred Claus and Beyond the Sea, both pretty lame films.
