The Actor Who Never Made A Bad Movie

All fantastic actors but unfortunately, all have made a dreadful movie.

Robert Redford: Lions for Lambs, The Clearing, The Legend of Bagger Vance, An Unfinished Life, etc.

Al Pacino: Like taovande said, Gigli kills his chances, as does the recently horrible 88 Minutes.

And Donnie Brasco was very much liked by critics so yeah, that wouldn't be his knock out film. But the others, oh bother.

Jack Nicholson: The Bucket List, Anger Management and Mars Attacks! would knock him off for sure.

Denzel W: John Q and Man on Fire do him in.

Morgan Freeman: Two words: Evan Almighty. He was also in the horrible Bucket List with Jack and has starred in one too many Ashley Judd ventures. And he was in that movie with Justin Timberlake that went straight to video. Ouch.

Michelle Pfeiffer: I Am Sam, The Story of Us and Dangerous Minds were not liked by critics at all. And To Gillian on her 37th birthday is really bad.

Meryl Streep: Evening, Lions for Lambs and Rendition, all recent films by the way, also knock her greatness off the list.

Paul Newman: Message in a Bottle is all kinds of bad. Bye bye blue eyes!

P.S. I Love You, The Reaping and Freedom Writers were all disliked by critics.

I love Natalie and V For Vendetta (and so did the critics, so that movie wouldn't kick her off) but My Blueberry Nights, The Other Boleyn Girl and Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium, if we go by general consenus, weren't good. And Where the Heart Is wasn't liked much either.

And on the Scarlett Jo front, you can't forget about The Island. It's bad. As is The Other Boleyn Girl, The Black Dahlia, The Nanny Diaries, Scoop...I could continue for awhile. I wouldn't consider Scar Jo. Sorry!

And Lost in Translation is amazing, according to critics (and me!) so that wouldn't be her knock out movie. But the others most def are.

And you're right IceTongue. The Reaping is all kinds of unforgivable bad, as is P.S I Love You.

I think that pretty much every actor has made at least one bad movie. But I really do like Tom Hanks. Every movie that I've seen of him was great :)

I've only see Excellent Adventure (I haven't treated myself to Bogus Journey) but I dare say Keanu should have won an Oscar for that performance.

Reese Witherspoon is great

I know that she has made a couple of what people think of as bad movies but I love Julianne Moore! I also enjoy all of Rachel Weisz's films. And of course probably my favorite actress... Kate Winslet

johnny depp is up there but i would have to say that every ator out there has made a bad choice...also it is hard coz everyone has there own oppions on what is good and what is bad...it really just depends on the taste and you know it is hard with films coz a movie could have an excelent script but poor production values and vice versa....i am just rambling i study film so i tend to get carried away lol....but yeah Johnny Depp is a good choice and for females i have to say Michelle Williams .....

I'd have to go with Morgan Freeman although High Crimes wasn't really that great. I'm a bit surprised he even took that part.

yea, I agree -- all of Tom Hanks' movies have been good. I can't think of 1 that wasn't good...

I originally thought about James Stewart, but then I watched Bandolero! It's not very good and critics panned it as well. But he has been in way more movies than Kelly or Dean, so it's expected he'd make a bad one or two.

High Society wasn't awesome, the end all be all of movies, but it wasn't considered bad, so I really can't think of a bad movie for her. But you're right, it was much easier for her and James to stay in the battle compared to someone who made 30 or more films, so it's tough to say if they really "count." But Grace did make around 10, which is better than 3.

Since the older actors seem to be the ones who have the ability to stay in longer, it makes you wonder are movies worse now, did actors make better choices or is it just because most actors make more films now? A lot of people love the classics, but I'm more about contemporary films, so for me, it's kind of a puzzle.

I don't know much about Christopher Lee, but he was in The Golden Compass, correct? Bad movie.

I would probably say Christopher Lee. I'm a big fan and I've never seen a film in which he played that I dislike.

I agree. It's great dissecting all these actors.

And David Morse! The cop from House! Anyways, he was in Proof of Life. And The Good Son. He was brought down by Macaulay Culkin!

But, you might have it with Grace Kelly. I can't think of one bad movie she was in. Granted, she was only in like 10 movies, but still, 10 is better than 3.

Johnny Depp gets knocked out by at least the latest Pirate movie. Or the Libertine. Both were awful. He also has some other not so great films (Secret Window, Nick of Time).

Reese Witherspoon made the dreadful Legally Blonde 2. Therefore, she will never be forgiven. And it was a really bad film.

Julia Roberts gets knocked out by Mona Lisa Smile, Full Frontal, America's Sweethearts, I Love Trouble, Something to Talk About, etc.

And Paul Walker. Well, I don't know if he has made a good movie. I kid, I kid. He was in Pleasantville. But he was also in 2 Fast 2 Furious, Into the Blue and Varsity Blues, to name a few bad ones.

But he'll always have his pretty eyes!

It's looking like a Grace Kelly/James Dean win so far.

Daniel Day-Lewis is another one I was thinking about but he made The Ballad of Jack and Rose, which wasn't very good, so I guess even his brilliance is gone as well.

Oh it is a big Training Day rip off. I felt so cheated. It's like Training Day minus Denzel and anything original and then it is just all kinds of lame. They also stole parts from LA Confidential, but watered it down for the dumbest person in the theater and then threw in some random Lethal Weapon, for good measure. To me, it was a mash up of movies for people who don't like to think.

And as for Keanu, he did play Ted from San Dimas well.

Ralph was also insanely good in The Constant Gardener, which is one of my most favorite movies evah, but you can count me and many critics as hating MIM. It's a JLo movie. I'm still puzzled as to why he thought it was a good idea. I rolled my eyes so much during the film. And I thought Ralph and JLo had like zero chemistry.

Probably not, just like any political debate, there is never a clear right or wrong. I know a couple folks who actually liked Wild, Wild West, but don't like anything else with Will Smith, very subjective, yet there are movies that most people will agree on.

Of course actors will more likely be in crap movies in the beginning of there careers, just to get some screen time, but there are those that are in crap movies later on that boggle the mind.

Kate was recently in All the King's Men which was a huge flop at the box office as well as with critics.

I heard she was fantastic in the movie though. Isn't she always though...I adore her.

Cate was in Bandits (which was a terrible movie imho) and also Missing which was critically panned.

Emily Watson---I've only seen some of her movies, and they were all great--so someone else is going to have to try and eliminate her...I can't.

I haven't watched all the movies of any particular actor or actress, so this is based purely off of movies that I've seen, which is quite the lengthy list for the actors I'm mentioning below.

For actors, I'd have to go with Edward Norton--though The Incredible Hulk may make me think otherwise--and John Cusack. Then of course there are actors I adore who have made at least one movie that I considered to be crap such as Denzel Washington (He Got Game), Christian Bale (Reign of Fire, Velvet Goldmine), and Leonardo DiCaprio (The Man in the Iron Mask).

As for actresses, can't go wrong with Reese Witherspoon. Absolutely love her.

Maybe Grace Kelly, you're right - but she was in High Society, which, while not bad, was not a patch on The Philadelphia Story. Still, High Society wasn't altogether bad... it's a bit hard to say for Kelly and Dean though, they were in so little movies that it's easier for them not to have a bad one, you know?

ETA: How about James Stewart? He was in plenty of really good movies, and I can't quite remember a truly bad one (although, OK, I haven't watched THAT many of his stuff).

It's funny how it's the old actors that are really proving their strength - out of today's actors there is always one movie that will knock them out.
