i saw a documentary on the student loan debt fiasco recently.
they argued that it was the government's fault for meddling in student loans that caused tuitions to sky rocket. that's what happens when you essentially give students "free" money.
had the free market controlled the cost of tuition from the start this never would have happened.

A big part of the problem is that easy federal funding/loans have cheapened education and adversely affected quality while raising the price.
