Thank you, government

subsidizing higher education takes money away from the general treasury and directs it toward those who go to college. those who go to college tend to be of a higher social class and wealthier than those who do not. those merabers of the lower class that go to college or graduate school, while they may lack material wealth, they have high personal wealth being that they are intelligent and arabitious. I understand the argument that rich people can pay a little more so that they poor have it easier. But it makes no sense to benefit college graduates at the expense of those that did not attend college.

right, but had private entities controlled student loans (ie banks), tuitions wouldn't rise to the levels they are now.

what would happen is students can't afford tuition, universities can't afford to operate and shut down, the ones that survive are those that offer affordable tuition and thus higher education becomes more accessible.

with the government giving away money it just perpetuates the problem and makes it even worse.

yea.

I think that's the problem. People who can't find jobs resort to going back to school for more education because there's nothing they can do in the meantime to support themselves. I wonder what happens when this mass graduates and can't find jobs...they won't be able to pay on their loans anyway when they first get out and EVERYONE is going to ask for deferment.

Pretty much. They don't seem to give a shit about people who've actually PAID for Medicare getting fucked up the ass, so why should anyone care that students have to pay their loans back?

education is education. id rather have a ditch digger with a master in fine arts than a ditch digger with a GED. all first world countries should work toward an educated populace.

it's so hard to do because not everybody has the bolded part

and i'm sure it wasnt just her own savings, but significant parental contribution, also.
