prices would come down at public universities while private universities (the ivy league especially) would exclude the lower and middle classes even more so.

i dont think the prices would come down to nearly the levels you think they would. college would still be expensive to the average 18 year old high school graduate with no savings or assets. instead of borrowing from the government at 'low' interest rates he's now forced to borrow from banks or work during school. socialized secondary education is a better system. for the amount of taxes we pay why can't we have some of the luxuries of socialized countries, like free education?
 
If you want to talk shit, come down to DC, we will see who is superior and who has a lead pipe where the back half of their skull used to be.
 
because not all parents are good with finances...

and unfortunately most kiRAB here in the US don't even start thinking about college until sophomore/junior year of HS....which is too late by then.
 
yeah, that's one of the things I love about my wife... she's part of the ME generation but wasn't raised that way... a couple of years back she got laid off and within a week she was waiting tables while she looked for another job.
