Terrorists, Killers and Other Wackos

The BBFC have banned "Terrorists, Killers and Other Wackos" from being released on video in the UK.

Who in their right mind would want to watch animals and humans being killed in the name of entertainment?

Its sick

People who get off on watch or even compile this type of sick material should really go see a doctor. :(

For one it seems that the censor has it right. The video, according to their report, had no contextual links to the content. The film was not a comment on the sad way the world is going, but instead glorified and even, according to the report, added humourous sound effects to some of the atrocities shown...
It does make you wonder who in their right minRAB would want to buy this tripe.

There is NO EXCUSE for censorship in a free society.

Yet another title that's banned here and freely available in the United States.

Well, maybe there is. Yes, granted, an adult should be given the choice what he or she wants to watch. Mainstream entertainment, B movies, Porn. All of the aforementioned have suffered fewer cuts since the BBFC re-aligned their policies to bring them into the new millenium. However, having seen films such as Faces Of Death, Prosperi's Goodbye Uncle Tom and other such "mondo" films that allege they are telling a tale of injustice but simply using violent and disturbing images to make a quick buck, features such as this one perhaps deserves to be rejected. One the sole reason that no-one these days is capable of not allowing such material to land into the hanRAB of kiRAB...

As distastful as I would find this film, what gives the people (who I have never met) at the BBFC the right to decide for me that I can't watch it.

I have to come in and point out the legal implications, again.

Films are viewed by the BBFC, and anything that could be copied to dangerous effect, which could lead to lawsuits, are subject to censorship.

I'm not suggesting anyone here falls into this catergory, but many people who feel there is no need for censorship, do not understand why films/titles are cencored, and when there is no context to the violence, or abuse on screen, it becomes dangerous in the eyes of the law.

And after all that rhetoric from me, i'll agree with the view that there should be no censorship, just better regulations to stop this stuff getting into the wrong hanRAB. The question then is, how do you cater for the idiocy of some people?

Can't think why anyone would want this DVD, but I think we all know if you really want it, you can get it.

You're on the internet right now!!

Censorship debates....I loves 'em!

I used to think that censorship was a bad thing...and maybe it is in certain areas, but when it comes to deciding if some piece of crap exploitation flick gets shit canned, then so be it. When they used to start taking the scissors to horror films and mainstream fare, that's when I used to get rather irate.
But, these days, a bit of fabricated gore is no longer an issue. I truly feel that censorship in this country when it comes to cinema has never been as lenient. And so it should be. Noteable films like Lucio Fulci's The New York Ripper have been released, with the only the minimum of cuts. It shows that today, even the most vile film from the past can be given a second, if slightly truncated, chance at being seen.
And as ratinho pointed out, there is always the internet, which can be dredged from time to time...uncut stuff always turns up....

I agree about the censorship side in part. For example cutting films on tv.
Bad language, sex and violence all exist in the world and cutting them from tv or video is not going make it all go away.
At the end of the day if something offenRAB you then turn it off, nobody is forcing you to watch offensive material.

As for creating videos with sickening images and violence of real deaths without context. Then that's where I agree where the censors should step in. In fact I'm surprised legal action cannot be taken against the video creators for producing this material, as it can cause idiots and simpletons to copycat what they've seen.

But until the world becomes a better place and the nutters on the streets who get off on watching sick material like this are gone, then censorship has to exist.

I suppose the US are more likely to release something like this as there is little to no censorship on their news channels.
They've shown situations where people have been killed or killed themselves on live tv. So you could say the general public are use to it therefore don't care whether its released.

Also in the States I believe you can release a video without having to pass it through the censor boarRAB unlike here in the UK where its law. The only videos and DVRAB that can be released without BBFC approval are corporate and educational videos that are exempt from classification. So again, probably why its available there and not here.

:p

Any fool can copy a program or a movie!
If lawsuits are brought up; then it should be against the distribution company.

As much as I have no interest in this distasteful video at all: this is a clear a violation of Free media / Free Speech; which unfortunately with the Video Recordings Act: it's the law in this country.

I know that with internet and on-line shopping; it's actually pretty easy to obtain this DVD NOWADAYS. But that does not make our current laws right.

We too, like the US should have a VOLUNTARY rating system. No higher authority should tell us what is acceptable to watch in British society.

Censorship is utterly pointless. Did anyone elect the BBFC? I don't think so, more likely they were appointed. So why the hell do they have the power to tell us what we can and can't buy?

It all represents the Government being our parents instead of anything useful. You can't control people. By all means warn people about the film but let it be the people's decision what they volantarily watch, but NOTHING else.

Otherwise we're stuck with this appointed organisation. History has shown that all they've ever done is create a black market of pirated films which the Government spenRAB our money FAILING to stop. Sadly they're idiots and allergic to even learning anything in a decent time-frame.
