I know Edward Furlong was too *ahem* out of it to reprise his role in T3, but why no Nick Stahl? I thought he portrayed John Connor pretty well in T3 (plus looked quite like Reece which was a bonus).

I think they just wanted to have no connection at all to the previous films apart from the story of course. T3 was seen as the weakest of the 3 and the most slated so having the same actors would put people off. Now that they have flavour of the month Bale involved, people will rush to see it, flashy trailer or not.

Bale's voice in the trailer is annoying, just as much as his 'Batman' voice was in The Dark Knight, I hope it doesn't ruin the film for me, but if he uses it constantly, then I can see it grating quickly and making me want to cover my ears when he comes on screen.

Nick Stahl was interested apparently but the producers of T4 fobbed him off.

Not surprisingly really seeing as T3 was both a commercial and an artistic disaster.

I'm glad Nick Stahl is nowhere to be seen when it comes to anything Terminator now, I thought he was a terrible choice for Terminator 3 and one of the reasons Terminator 3 was awful.

Yeah I know what you're saying. Bale is a great actor but when it comes to playing hard men he seems to think all it requires is making his voice gruff and deeeeeep.

A commercial disaster? How so?

It had a budget of $200m, and although the film performed poorly in the US, it still took $433m worldwide. Hardly what you would call a disaster.

I saw it in a packed cinema. But neither of those anecdotes have any bearing - it made over $400 million worldwide - which is a definite success.

Tim Burton's Batman was a success, with Batman Begins its "airbrushed out of history" your arguement makes no sense.

Nick Stahl can be quite a good actor but he's no Edward Furlong.

Also essentially Nick is/was an indie actor who would appear in b movies and an unconventional tv series. He was never going to be suited to a mainstream box office film,it's just not his material.

On another note I'm getting sick of all these films exceeding trilogies. Hollywood should ban them or ban the word trilogy because the studios always milk a franchise to death till they're on part ten or something. It's dishonest as it is annoying!
