Terminator: Salvation

McG is on record as saying they are looking to do a Batman Begins with T4 I.E. a wholescale reboot of the franchise.

I should imagine this will be along the lines of The Incredible Hulk which conveniently forgot Ang Lee's version ever happened.

The way I read it is that most of Cameron's mythology is intact but the exact details of Judgement Day is left to the imagination much like the Time War in Doctor Who.

Best option all round.

That way those that want to forget T3 ever happened can whilst fans of inflatable breasts are also catered for. ;)

No-one's saying T3 wasn't horribly misjudged in places, but McG is no more singling out T3 for revision than any of the other existing movies. There's always been a fuzzy continuity between films, and no doubt this will continue into this 'second trilogy'. But T3 is no more being 'airbrushed' than any of the others. McG seems to be working on the principle that one shouldn't let established canon and continuity details get in the way of a good story.

I am finding it difficult to take what McG says on the Terminator matter seriously. Perhaps it is me, but I don't find his CV full of rip-roaring success apart from the fluff of Charlie's Angels and it awful sequel. I am not altogether sure what he can bring to the Terminator franchise but as always I am more than happy to be proved wrong and indeed it is often a pleasure when that happens.

They needed someone a bit older and with more charisma, hence Christian Bale. He's also a well-known star now. Bryce Dallas Howard (The Village, Lady In The Water and Spiderman 3 (she was Gwen Stacey)) is playing Kate Brewster, aka the living proof that T3 is being honoured in Salvation, even if Claire Danes isn't back to play her.
