Terminator: Salvation - surprised!

Regarding silly moments in the Terminator films...

Terminator 2: director's cut has the very silly bit where John tries to make the Terminator smile. Pretty cringe making moment.
 
JC reprogrammed all of the Terminators in the film series to be friendly and protect him. He'd never met Marcus and probably at this point couldn't even begin to fathom how to reprogram a T800 let alone something he'd never encountered
Salvation was OK, on par with T3 for me though the plot was like an average episode of TSCC (or a pedestrian graphic novel) rather than a big budget movie.
How come Marcus can fall hundreRAB of feet off a ship and bounce along a river bed with barely a scratch yet elsewhere he's quite easily damaged? It was convenient for the plot I suppose.
 
Just seen it... the reviews of this have been harsh havent they??

Although I thought the film was OK I can see the points the critics are making but its not THAT bad!! Just approach it as a better than average action movie. like others Id put it on a par with T3, and I fail to see whats so horrendously bad about T3 anyway?? When I saw it I remeber saying that it wasnt as good as T2, but it certainly wasnt a stinker!!

Back to T4. Ive decided I dont like Christian Bale, which is a problem as I like the Terminator and Batman franchises...

I too thought that John Connor would be found to be a machine (bit of Blade Runner there...) and I thought the actual film ending that happened was very naff tbh..... made me cringe a bit-cheesy...

LIke others I liked Marcus (sexy!!;)) and Rhys... why didnt the Terminators just kill Rhys btw?? If he'd died there would be no John Connor??

I LOVED the Arnie appearance. Gawd- the scariest bit of the film...... FOR ACTORS!!!!!

Did Arnie give permission for his image to be used? Was it old footage or modern Arnie CGI'd younger??
 
True but 1080p on a big TV screen (even 60in) or shot through a projector looks good enough at home for most people who aren't sat there counting the pixels ;). Watching 35mm movies in 1080i on Sky HD, I don't find myself complaining either.
 
hum i dunno, yeh sure it might have been influenced by TF,i made the same comment in the cinema,but i dont think its out of place in a war between humans/machines

even in T1 they hade quite big robots roaming around in the flashbacks, obviously now with SFX they can go that bit bigger
 
The thing is, you can make as many of these films as you like, but your never going to top the original, regaurdless of how big the budget it is or how many 'big names' you get to appear in it. The very things that made the origianl so great was that it was more about the story line and characterisation of Sarah and Kylie, with a cool, but far from expensive, bad gut. The plot was tight and cohesive as well. All of the latter films suffer to varying degrees of trying to be 'bigger, better, faster, more. This film is no exception.
 
Yep Arnold gave them permission after viewing the scene. It was CGI based on his 1982 appearance in the first Terminator.

I for one, was dreading this film due to the reviews, but all I can say is what the hell were they watching? I loved it, from beginning to end. Going to see it again, very soon!
 
PG-13... Great. Another icon of the 80's gets dragged in to family friendly viewing oblivion. :(

Well, it has Christian Bale in it, so at least it won't be any worse than Terminator 3.
 
I saw it last night & was surprised, I thought it was quite good! Thought some of the action scenes were really good. Loved the homage to previous Terminator movies.

Somethings bugging me though & it's nothing to do with the film itself, it was 2 of the characters. How WHITE were their teeth!!?? Kyle Reese & one of the women. It was a gritty movie, they should have had dirty teeth!!

Oh & yes as someone said above, it was a tad loud.
