Hi honey! First off congratulations for being so strong and ambitious. With your strength and attitude, you will go far as long as you dont lose the drive that you have! To become a Nurse Practitioner, you have to become a Registered Nurse first. You can start off at a Community college and finish in two years or go straight to a University and finish in 4 years. After that, you can apply to a Master's degree program to become a Nurse Practitioner. You must have a Bachelors before you can apply.Your journey to becoming a NP will take about 6 years if you go to school full time.If you don't go full time it will take more than 6 years. Will it be possible to go full time with your son? Will you have a babysitter to watch him?Do you have a support group that will help you out? Going to a community or university will be a choice that only you can make. You know your situation. Now,google "Nursing schools in San antonio" and do some research. Then apply to the schools that you're interested in.Do a search for housing programs.I wish you the very best of luck! Oh by the way,you should talk to a counselor at school or talk to a Social worker.
