As most of you know, body and weight control is an important element of riding, whether it be aggressive/performance riding or casual riding. The only way to relieve ones arms from putting pressure on the handlebars is with your lower body strength. Unfortunately, the only surface our thighs can grip is that plexus polished and waxed gas tank! One issue I found is that my body tends to slide forward or backward depending on the track/canyon (example turn 3 at Streets of Willow body tends to slide forward).
If you had tank grips, you'd be able to grip the tank with your legs, and as a result improve the overall control of your body position, weight position and posture which in turn results in a smoother ride. Not to mention, less fatigue since your not giving uneccessary feedback to the bike.
With that said: Are tank grips necessary/beneficial?What are the pros and cons? Also, I haven't seen tank grips applied on any of the top WSB or MotoGP bikes (although I think Lorenzo's bike has one)?Any feedback would be appreciated.
