TCM/TCMHD & CNNHD added to Bell TV line up

Swapping channels on"The Harder They Fall" to me only showed a difference in the size of their heads, the volume and a few second delay.

My best guess is that TCM will be added to the Premium Movie Channel Package that is where they put AMC. I can see the price of the Premium Movie Package increasing very soon. I don't subscribe to the Premium Movie Package I can't afford the extra cost I am already paying $67.67 before the Jan 2010 Increase. Why doesn't Bell add more channel to the Digital Standard Package they are increasing the price of that package by $2.00 in January 2010.

Phone Bell and find out if you can get the free preview of CNNHD. You should be able to since you pay for the SD version.

By raising the premium movie package into the $20 range from $19 they make it appear to be much more expensive in peoples minds and they can easily downgrade service. By raising the basic fee from $33 to $35 there is really nothing people can do about it except cancel the service.

Plus now Bell can boost about having AMC & TCM even though your really going to have to subscribe to a premium movie package to get them.

i don't know if any one notice, but some other channel had their logo at the bottom of the screen, and tcm didn't have any when i watch the movie this after noon. I even put my face close to the tv to see if there were any. none. why that channel is different?

I've noticed like everyone else the sound on TCM is clipping. What is the cause and solution. I assume Bell is the only one that can fix this problem.

I'll be EXTREMELY disappointed if TCM goes into a package that will require me to buy MORE programming. A majority of the operators in Canada have it in an upgraded basic package in the $60 - $70 range ALONG with AMC.

It's all specualtion at this point but I'm planning for the WORST!

TCM HD is another matter all together.

At this point BELL should be looking at an HD basic's package that may have to include SD channels, that people can purchase in place of Digital Basic's.

All I know is that we're getting gouged here in Canada.

Isn't one of TCM's usual terms of carriage for it to be carried in one of the BDU's most popular packages. That would probably be family 1. I would be surprised if it went in a premium package.

I recently switched from an old grandfather package so I am now on the new package structure.

yes! Finally :D
But I wonder when Shaw/Shaw Direct plan to add TCM-HD, CNN-HD, and CBC News Network HD to their line-up

I just phoned BELL TV and they said 1578 is still NOT launched for CNN HD no matter what you subscribe to. Anybody else confirm this? I don't subscribe to CNN SD, but my friend does and he doesn't get CNN HD either.

Odd why some say they are getting it, but others can't. Usually when they add channels there's a free preview period, I should at least be seeing something (even if it's a red channel)

Thanks.

Since Bell does this with almost all channels they add, I'm not surprised. For many people, adding it to premium movies is probably better than putting it in with a bunch of unrelated channels, like they did with SSC. OTOH, it would be nice if it could be added to More Movies for a small fee.

And that's probably why Bell took so long to add it. Bell likely didn't want to add it to an existing package so TCM would not agree. Then there are channel linkage rules that Bell must obey. It looks like TCM and AMC finally caved to Bell's demands. OTOH, I've also got to wonder what HDNet did to get such generous packaging terms from Bell.

The Program Guide listings for TCM and TCMHD are inaccurate starting Saturday Jan 9 at 4:30 AM. Looks like they listed a bunch of movies that have played recently, instead of the ones that are scheduled on TCM's web site. I reported it to Bell yesterday. The Bell Web site lists the same errors.

Well, I called Bell last night. A lot of good that was. It was one of the India support staff so the usual checklist was read to me, i.e unplug for 10 seconds, give them the firmware number and smart card number, perform a check switch, etc. None of that worked and I knew it wouldn't because I had done all of that all ready. So he says he will do an authorization on my account and to keep the receiver on for 2 hours and then proceeded to try and sell me more programming. He was very pushy and I was not impressed. So I left the receiver on when I went to bed which was almost 2 hours from the time of the call and when I checked this morning, no CNNHD.

So obviously I'll have to call again, I'll do it during normal hours so I get someone here in Canada. Is there anything in particular that people know has to be done to an account in order for them to see CNNHD if they did not get it when it launched? I got TCMHD the day it went live.

Thanks

How come none of the programs listed in the Bell Guide for CNNHD have the letters "HD" in front of them.?

This is the normal way of knowing if a show is actually in HD or not.

Is this because ALL the shows are HD.?

Maybe it is different here in the states, but my former cable provider Comcast had TCM placed in an add-on package of about 10 channels (all sport - like fox soccer channel, tennis channel, outdoor, speed, etc) that cost $8 extra. Soccer, tennis, outdoor, etc, not the most popular package I would imagine. Meanwhile AMC was in the starter package.
